Superb thread! I was thinking about the color of the rinnegan and its connection to the byakugan color yesterday. Its great you made a comprehensive thread for this. I have a feeling something will happen to naruto and they will transplant Neji's byakugan into Naruto. I think you need some kind of doujutsu as one of the ingredients to awaken the rinnegan (unless you transplant an awakened rinnegan - Nagato's case). Also, Naruto's rinnegan would have swirls and would be influenced by the kyuubi chakra.

good theory. however i would then have to ask, what of the Sages Wife and mother of the the two sons. I believe the Sage was an Uzumaki, and that his WIFE was a Hyuuga.

The first Pic is before The SO6P defeated Jubbi and in the second Pic The Jubbi seems to have been caged.... But The most important part in the Pic is Naruto(An Uzumaki) and Hinata(A Hyuga) holding hands together.... I think it's symbolic that The power of Uzumaki and Hyuga when pooled together can help subdue the Jubbi.... Also if you see Neji (A Hyuga) is in a similar pose with his arms wide open as the SO6P in the first Pic.... I believe that the guy with the bird shaped Kurama cloak is Neji cause Neji has always wanted to be free like a bird....

I think you've got the intended imagery backwards. It's not the Juubi that's caged, but the alliance.

We are seeing the juubi from the alliance's perspective (from inside the cage). Anyway, it doesn't really change anything regarding your theory.

But as for the elder son's eyes, I'm gonna continue to stick with my theory that the reason they don't resemble rinnegan or sharingan is because we've only seen his mangekyo sharingan. Take any picture of Sasuke with E/MS. If that were the only picture you had of Sasuke, would you believe he had Sharingan? Probably not. It doesn't look anything like sharingan. So you'd probably conclude it was some new ocular power, when in fact it's just a (lowly) E/MS. Perhaps, because he was so close in relation to the sage, the elder son was born with MS/EMS; in other words, he didn't have to work up to it (by killing his friend and taking his brother's eyes). It was only after the bloodline thinned that the elder son's MS/EMS devolved into the current sharingan. Of course, this could easily be disproved if only there were a (canon) color image of the elder son's eyes (if such an image exists, please point me to the chapter). If his eyes are red/black, then I'm going with EMS/MS, but if they're lavender, then perhaps it is some type of byaku/sharin/rinnegan hybrid.
