I LOVE this theory! It makes so much sense and it's cert hard to refute. A lot of ppl say that the "sharingan derived from the byakugan" point has been retconned by Kishi but that's not sobering he would do. The two are obviously still connected and your theory is the best bet for HOW they are connected. The 2nd best theory would be the Hyuuga wife one.

I too thought that his wife could be a Hyuga but then SO6P was the first guy to weild Rinnegan and I think Rinnegan is the combo of Byakugan and Jubbi eye.... Plus there is a possibility that he created his sons with Creation of all things but I didnt put that in the Theory cause it seems a bit too far fetched.... neverthless it's a possibility.... =D =D

In this Thread I'm going to talk about quite a few things and also expand on my Theory on why I think The SO6P was a half Uzumaki and half Hyuga.Also I would like to Thank Sir Derp Obito for allowing me to use any part from his SO6P was an Uzumaki Theory in case I require it. Creation Of All Things Technique​

The Creation of All Things was an ability possessed by the Sage Of Six Paths, which he used to create the Nine Tailed Beasts. When we read the above Manga Pic.... We can take 2 important points from that Pic -
1.Yin Energy forms the basis of Mental Energy or Spiritual Energy....
2.Yang Energy forms the basis of Physical Energy....

These 2 points are important and useful in tracing the origins of The SO6P.... How....???? Lets see starting with the next part....

The Sons Of The Sage Of Six Paths​

The Elder son of The SO6P inherited his Powerful Eyes and Spiritual Energy(Yin)....
The Younger son of The SO6P inherited his Powerful Body and Physical Energy(Yang)....

The Uchiha who are the Descendants of the Elder Son have powerful Eyes which means they have a very developed Yin Chakra.... Also Uchihas are exceptionally talented in Genjutsu which falls under the category of Yin Release....

The Senju who are the Descendants of the Younger Son have powerful Body which means they have a very developed Yang Chakra....

Both The Senju and The Uchiha Clan have a Parallel Clan to them.... Uzumakis are parallel to Senju and Hyuga are parallel to Uchiha....

Uzumaki and Senju both have powerful body.... Hyuga and Uchiha both have powerful eyes.... It doesn't end here.... Uzumaki - Senju and Hyuga - Uchiha characters have Personality wise parallelism too.... Let's see this in a little more detail....

Clan And Personality wise Parallelism​

Apart from powerful bodies and Yang chakra.... The Uzumaki and Senju characters are parallel personality wise too.... Normally both Uzumakis and Senjus are quick tempered hot heads like Naruto,Kushina,Karin and Tsunade.... They are carefree and naive like Naruto and perhaps Nawaki.... Hashirama was too naive.... He kept on giving Madara another chance even though Madara didn't seem to give a damn and in the end left the village.... It took Hashi hundreds or perhaps thousands of fights to decide and kill Madara....

Exceptions - Kishi sama has made at least one exception to this personality parallelism in each Clan.... Tobirama and Nagato are the two people who are exceptions.... Tobirama seems more matured compared to the other 3 of Senjus we have seen.... He is practical and smart and not naive.... Nagato too is serious and doesn't fool around like the other Senjus and Uzumakis....

Hyuga - Uchiha :

The Hyuga and Uchiha have powerful Eyes and Yin Chakra.... Characters from both these Clans are normally calm and cool headed and very confident about themselves.... Being calm and cool headed makes them good strategists.... Neji was a genius and a good strategist.... Itachi and Madara are clearly the most outstanding people in the list of good strategists.... The way Itachi planned his death and the way Madara carried out his plans is enough to prove their intellectual level....

Exceptions - Kid Obito was a goofy kid with a somewhat Naruto like personality.... Though he changed later....The Hyuga and Uchiha having strong Mental energy are confident of themselves but Hinata having a low confidence is an exception....

The SO6P's Original Eyes​

The Elder Son inherited The SO6P's powerful eyes.... I think The SO6P's original eyes would be just like The eyes the Elder Son is shown with in the above Pic.... I know it's a fan art.... But I'm not using it as a proof.... It's merely for theorizing....
I think The SO6P had these eyes before becoming The Ten Tails Jinchuriki and acquiring Rinnegan.... They were a Hybrid version of Byakugan.... The were of the color of Byakugan and had Uzumaki spiral pattern....

Also this will make a whole lot sense when you see the next image....

So Kishi sama has foreshadowed this long ago.... Uchiha inherited those Powerful eyes and Mental Energy (Yin) from SO6P's Hyuga ancestors and Senju inherited that powerful body and Physical Energy (Yang) from SO6P's Uzumaki ancestors....

As time passed and the blood of the SO6P's sons became thinner.... The effect of the Jubbi became more visible in their future generations.... The Sharingan looks exactly a mini version of Ten Tails eye....

The first Pic is before The SO6P defeated Jubbi and in the second Pic The Jubbi seems to have been caged.... But The most important part in the Pic is Naruto(An Uzumaki) and Hinata(A Hyuga) holding hands together.... I think it's symbolic that The power of Uzumaki and Hyuga when pooled together can help subdue the Jubbi.... Also if you see Neji (A Hyuga) is in a similar pose with his arms wide open as the SO6P in the first Pic.... I believe that the guy with the bird shaped Kurama cloak is Neji cause Neji has always wanted to be free like a bird....

My Conclusion​

• He inherited Powerful Eyes and Mental Energy(Yin) from his Hyuga parent and it was later passed down to the Edler Son and the Uchiha but it was mixed with the Jubbi's Yin too....
  
• He inherited Powerful Body and Physical Energy(Yang) from his Uzumaki parent and it was later passed down to the Younger Son and the Senju but it was mixed with the Jubbi's Yang too....

This is how i understand it:
the essence of life, is chakra. The elder Chiyo gave Garra life, by transfering alot of chakra into his lifeless body.
When you drain your chakra past depletion, you can die.
So, The Ying Yang release:
Yin allows you to create any lifeless being/form.
Yang allows you to breath life into the lifeless being, with your chakra (like Naruto does with Yamamotos dead lumber-- turns it into living trees.)

What SOSP did was like you said.
He used Creation REBIRTH. This is a jutsu derived from Yin Yang release.
With this, he does not utilize the yang release like a normal yin yang relase jutsu. He does not use his own chakra.
In this jutsu, he takes the chakra, the life, of the Kyuubi, and splits it into 9 entities. He places the entities into the 9 beings he made with yin release (the bijuus). This is the Rebith part. Through these 9 entities, the Juubi can be rebirthed-- if they are all joined again.
