Aha thanks man, I think it links in well with the idea that Madara said he'd "not enjoyed a sight like that in a while". I just think it all links in well
madara was itachi's teacher both itachi and kisame have seen tobi without his mask and have reffered to him as madara well brfore he proclaimed he was madara.
in fact it was kisame who originally stated that tobi was uchiha madara and with him being from outside konoha it goes to state how madara took power and started the war

If Madara was Itachi's teacher how do you explain Itachi's actions? Kills clan to stop civil war from happening, acts like a bad guy to build his brother's strength up..dies to his brother to make him the village hero, gives Naruto Shisui's eye in case Sasuke wanted to take revenge on Konoha instead of returning, Shisuis eye was the strongest genjutsu known so far..and the command Itachi put in to auto activate at the sight of Itachi's MS was "Protect Konoha" in case Sasuke took Itachi's eyes like Madara took Izuanas
Madara was hell bent on destroying the Leaf..not saving it..
good thread. i'm with you on a few things, but kushina and nagato weren't the only uzumaki survivors. Kushina's village was intact when she came to Konoha, and Nagato is slightly older than they are. But i agree that Madara or Tobi instigated the destruction of the uzumaki, along with the uchiha they were the only two clans capable of challenging their plan. the senju were dispersed and there's only one of them known to date, tsunade, and she wasn't interesting in konoha anymore.
Contrary to what many people have said, I think it's possible Naruto could get the Rinnegan. Kurama told Sasuke not to kill Naruto because he would regret it, and maybe because the Kurama knew something about the Uzumakis through his experiences with the Sage and Madara. I feel there is something special about Naruto's Uzumaki heritage.
Now for the theory:
The Senju originally had the Six Path's tablet being passed down to every Hokage, but the moment Madara saw it after the Uchiha formed their alliance with the Senju, he saw what others couldn't due to his highly evolved EMS. Madara found out about the Sage and the Juubi through the tablet and devised a plan to obtain the power of the SO6P who was seen as a God (Rinnegan/Juubi).

What were Onoki and Muu so shocked about? What had Madara just done? I believe Madara had the intentions of stealing the stone tablet.
After the battle with Hasirama, he achieved Rinnegan by combining his Uchiha DNA with Senju DNA. He learned from the tablet that combining the two traits of the SO6P would result in the aquisition of the Rinnegan.

Madara felt that he was the only one who deserved this power. He felt he needed to get rid of any possible threat by eliminating anyone else who was able to achieve his current power. This took place in the years after he secretly left Konoha. Other Uchiha members would've been able to achieve the Rinnegan but I question whether he had the balls to kill the people he so desperately wanted to get what they deserved.
So the next best thing to stop the Rinnegan from activating was to have a second attempt at destroying the Senju. But wasn't the last one Hashirama? I think that before the Senju decided to expand; some of the Senju forming the Whirlpool Village. Here the Uzumakis were much less diluted in Senju blood which Madara knew. So once Hashirama and Tobirama were out the picture, all he had to do was one thing: Destroy Whirlpool.
How? How about a giant meteor obliterating everything within sight in an instant?

Remember, in the manga he stated that 'he hadn't enjoyed this view in a while'; I think this points to the fact he obviously used his meteor jutsu before. Used it on Uzushiogakure.

He obliterated the Uzumaki and Madara continued with his plan to power. I believe that at one point Madara realized he had to die and be brought back by the Rinnegan via Rinne Tensei. Maybe he read more of the tablet with his new eyes and found another requirement to obtain the Juubi. So he needed time and an assistant: Tobi. Unfortunately he killed all possible Senju except two: Uzumaki Nagato and Kushina.

He chose Nagato and would leave the rest to his assistant once dead. Tobi would continue and develop Nagato till he was ready. But I think Tobi went rogue and wanted to save the revival for himself (as he stated) in order to obtain the power for his own desire. Going after the tailed beasts were all for his Moons Eye Plan. He wants to control the Juubi with the Rinnegan.
Now the war is occuring and I believe that Tobi is developing Sasuke to get the Rinnegan in order to use the revival jutsu on Tobi after he would die. Sasuke is the final Uchiha. Tobi is planning on syncing Sasuke to Gedo Mazo:

This is why Orochimaru and Kabuto wanted Sasuke. They failed at getting Itachi. Sasuke was the answer to achieving all jutsu through the Rinnegan and Orochimaru knew this.
I think that Madara destroyed the Uzumaki Clan to stop any future threats. He didn't want anyone obtaining his power. The Uzumakis and Uchiha were the last remnants of the two sons and the only ones who could obtain the power of a God. Now there's only Naruto and Sasuke (that we know of); these two being the only ones with potential to awaken this power.
Anyway, these were just my ideas. Thoughts?
This is very thought out! When I saw the Naruto thing, I wanted to immediately disregard it but I read through it. And while I think the destruction of Uzushiogakure is very plausible, I still think Naruto getting Rinnegan (or the possibility of it) impossible. One, plot no jutsu. Kishi is unpredictable, but he stills remains with the bounds of Naruto logic. Naruto already has too much power. Him having Rinnegan would be a troll on the ultimate level. Giving Naruto Rinnegan would be as reasonable as giving it to Rock Lee. Two, the lack of dojutsu. Naruto has never had a dojutsu. The closest he has ever come to one is Sage Mode. And three, he's supposed to be the equivalent of the younger son of SO6P. The younger son had no dojutsu and neither did the Senju clan. Now these aren't logical reasons, but I think it fits Naruto logic. It would be cool if Naruto had Rinnegan, but I don't think it will happen. I would give you +rep for this, but apparently I've given you some recently...
I'm a believer, this all makes sense... I have a question about the "moons eye" plan though. WTF is the point of it? you enslave the world sure but how boring is that? might as well be alone - just kill everyone its about the same. If you are that powerful Why not rule with your might the old fashioned way? sure you would still have to wipe out the opposition but at least you would have something to do every few years killing off the rebels, there has to be something more to it right?

Well Tobi just wants peace and he doesn't believe that it's possible witht the current shinobi system. He doesn't believe that shinobi will ever change. So he believes moons eye plan is the most efficient/effective way of achieving that peace.
Too much wank over Madara in one thread. The tablet didn't belong to Senju, doubt they even had any idea about it. It was hidden deep down in Naka which is somewhere on the outskirts of Konoha village.
And as for "the tablet was passed down to every Hokage", how could it have been passed to every hokage if Hashirama was the first?

But if Uzumakis are real threat then why didnt he kill Naruto in the start of series. Its not that hard for Tobi to do that since he pushed Minato to his death.

Madara was dead when Naruto was born, and how could Tobi have expected Naruto to have become so strong? Plus his mission was to destroy Konoha and even if he did want to kill Naruto, Minato wasn't having any of it..........
You've got the timeline mixed up my friend. Madara died during second shinobi world war. Trust me. Nagato, Kushina and MInato are all in the same age bracket (around 42). Nagato was a kid when it was destroyed. So Kushina was a kid. SO Madara was just about still around because the village was destroyed during the second shinobi world war
No, I don't think so. Yeah, it is true that Minato and Nagato are the same age, or at least around that, because Jiraiya trained Nagato for 3 years since he was 7 before leaving (that would make Nagato 10 at the end of his training). And Minato graduated at 10 and got Jiraiya as a sensei soon after. Kushina possibly is, because they were in the same class.
But Kushina had Naruto at around 20, 21? Which would change the age. I might be wrong though. Madara supposedly dies at the Battle of The End (is it called that?). But in reality, he died during the Third Shinobi War, when Minato and his team did that mission (the Bridge one). He died soon after Obito arrived in his den.
This is a good theory. The best yet. I've read another good one but there was a massive plothole. Tobi didn't even exist in the Second Shinobi War. Also I'm not sure about the meteorite thing...
Can I use this theory in my fanfic, I was trying to get a good theory about why Uzushio actually perished, not some half-arsed reason like most writers out there suddenly the combined force of Iwa-Kumo-Kiri nin just attack Uzushio because they had good fuin.
Someone else posted here, can't be bothered to reply plus I don't know where it is, that Kushina's mother taught Minato seals. This is wrong, because Kushina left for Konoha alone, and was only comforted by Mito before her death. It is stated in the chapter that Naruto meets Kushina that Kushina taught Minato all her fuin techniques.
Which is why when I read something where someone says that Minato was the ultimate seal master and Kushina knew nothing at all, it really pisses me off!!
