Some people hate the idea of Sasuke getting rinnegan at his current age because Madara didn't get it until the end of his life. I believe Sasuke can get it at his current age however. Here is why:
Theory: As long as you have EMS and Senju DNA, the rinnegan will awaken the moment when you are about to die or be killed (regardless of your age) to save your life for free without you making a conscious effort to save yourself. This is a one time only free save. You must however, sense that you are about to die and know that you can't save yourself.
Reasoning: Madara said that he awakened the rinnegan the moment he was about to die. The fact that he acknowledged the fact that he was about to die means that he knew that he could not save himself at that moment. Suddenly, the rinnegan awakened and unlocked the seal on the gedou mazo (thus allowing Madara to summon the mazo and use it as a life support system). Therefore, the awakening of the rinnegan essentially saved Madara's life. It was his free save that I spoke of before.
When Madara was revived via edo tensei, he did not expect to still have access to the rinnegan because he was in his younger form. He didn't even know that he was equipped with Hashirama's DNA until he looked down his shirt. He even asked Kabuto what he did to this edo body after the rinnegan reawakened. Having said that, it is clear that Madara did not expect to be able to absorb Naruto's rasenshuriken. Since Madara had just been pulled out of his susanoo and did not have any other tricks up his sleeve, he knew that he was about to be hit and defeated by that rasenshuriken. For an edo, being defeated and sealed is the closest thing to being killed. At the moment the rasenshuriken was about to hit the virtually helpless Madara (and basically "kill" Madara) the rinnegan reawakened and allowed Madara to use preta path (thus granting Madara another free save).
You may be thinking: I thought you said it was one time only. My answer: It is. Notice how I highlighted the word reawakened. Because Madara was revived in his younger form and because he didn't have his original eyes when he died, he had to reawaken the rinnegan. He already had EMS in his younger days and Kabuto reinstalled the Senju DNA onto him. Therefore, when Madara reawakened the rinnegan, it was as if he had just awakened it for the first time again. Therefore, he was still able to get a free save.
You may also be wondering: If this theory is correct, then why did it take Madara until the end of his life to awaken the rinnegan? My answer: Madara did not get his Senju DNA until his final battle with Hashirama. After that, Madara presumably went into hiding (as everyone thought he was dead). Therefore, Madara would have had no more battles after Hashirama and therefore no more life threatening situations until the moment of his natural death. Thus, his free save wouldn't come in until that moment of his natural death. That is why it took so long for Madara.
My theory is further supported by what Tobirama said about the sharingan and emotions. As we know, the sharingan powers up with negative emotions. When you know you are about to die an unsatisfying death, various emotions go through your mind. Those emotions include mortal terror, anger, sadness, regret, etc... . Surely these emotions would be more than enough to boost an EMS to rinnegan at the moment of the Uchiha's death. For those of you that argue that Tobirama said that the eyes power up when an Uchiha loses love remember that many people love themselves in addition to other people. Plus, when you die you also leave the people you love. Therefore, the feeling that you get at the moment you are about to die does count as the feeling of losing love.
Finally, the rinnegan is said to be beyond life and death. The word samsara, which has something to do with rebirth, is often associated with the rinnegan. Therefore it makes sense for the rinnegan's awakening to have something to do with the moment of death.
That is my theory.
How would this justify Sasuke getting rinnegan at his current age? Answer: As stated before, Madara didn't have any more life threatening situations after Hashirama. That is why it took him so long. Sasuke however is still young. He will keep fighting for many years to come. Therefore, a life threatening situation will likely come a lot quicker for Sasuke than it did for Madara. Sasuke in turn will get his free save. That is why I think Sasuke can awaken rinnegan at his current age.
To all people who say that Madara didn't reawaken it during the fight with Naruto, answer this question: If he already knew that he still had access to the rinnegan, then why we he question what Kabuto did to his body after using the rinnegan? Why did he have to look down his shirt if he already knew that he still had the necessary Senju DNA? Also, how do you post scans for those of you who wanted scans?
