I'll be insisting in this theory:
Explanation and facts for:
1- Kishi is very careful with the stories and backgrounds in Naruto (so far only sakura hasn't got a background , might se a surprise someday but doubt it)... We don't know how exactly Itachi got his Mangekyou sharingan, only theories, and how Uchiha Shisui himself got it.
2- He was mentioned again by Kabuto, if he was a fodder, he'd be just forgotten. Couldn't find his body, just another hint
3- If it was Kabuto, why would they take so long to show him again?? I mean would be a surprise but not worth 3-4 chapters to show his return...
4- Some say he's dead.. Well wasn't Obito too? I read a theory made a long time ago where a guy said Tobi was Obito, everyone went against him, saying he was dead, hair has nothing to do and much more, and insisting it was Izuna like if Naruto was that predictable lool
5 (!!)- Last, but not the least, actually the most convincing fact:
Look at the image below, one of the arms if further away from the body.. Well Shisui had no eyes right? 1+1=2
He could be using a stick to walk

-Itachi was Shisui's best friend, therefore he could be keeping an eye on Sasuke and help him when he'd have no one to help
-The Uchiha Tablet has many secrets. Without the eyes he could have managed to use chakra more and recognise things with only chakra...
★Gyakusetsu theory also reinforced my thoughts
-Shisui seemed to be a depressed person. Perhaps he found out that he's father was a double agent, which helped Madara to survive. And this time he's helping the last "good" Uchiha. The link between Madara and Sasuke is that both of them have Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan, which could made it easier to find him.
Edited: By the way Itachi never said he was killed or killed himself.. In the anime they said he disappeared, if it was a suicide Itachi would have said so right?
