Like the title says, i believe Orochimaru knew and planed everything. His plan i believe was to awaken the Rinnengan in a perfect Uchiha body, master every technique and take control of the world.
Remember Orochimaru said he wanted to wait when Sasuke will grow enough to take his body. It's said by Kabuto that Orochimaru knew about occular powers even that Rinnengan is EMS evolution. It's said
All that shows that Uchiha techniques were no secret for him, so it's safe to assume that someone like Orochimaru who seeks power, who wants to learn every ninjutsu no matter what intended to possess this ultimate dojutsu(Rinnengan) thru a Uchiha body(Sasuke). But there was a little problem. He needed Sasuke to awaken MS which was an important step in his plan. Orochimaru alone knew that he couldn't awake MS easily since you must have a emotional choc seeing your closest friend dying in order to awake it. That's why he waited for the Sasuke vs Itachi fight.

, Orochimaru knew the truth concerning Itachi, so he knew that Itachi would not try to kill Sasuke but instead die infront of Sasuke's eyes, which would make him awake the MS. All that was part of his plan. That's why i believe that during his "fight" against Sasuke, he purposely let the advantage to Sasuke. From the inside, it would have been easier for him to wait when Sasuke would be low in chakra to take control over his body. , he knew someone will revive him(probably Kabuto) but didn't expect it to be Sasuke, but it's possible that it's again one of his way of manipulation, especially when i look at Sasuke's reaction after looking at the scroll. It's probably that he knew that after seeing the scroll, Sasuke would want to revive him instead. Also, judging by what Obito says

, one could say that Orochimaru was one of the rare people who knew Tobi wasn't Madara, probably even knowing his real identity all that long. The fact that he even left a scroll where it's mentioned a plan to take control of a war further shows that he knew everything that happens now and was prepared for itOrochimaru knew everything.
