So as we know Orochimaru was with Tsunade and Jiraiya when they were viewing Nawaki's body, and it's further been theorized that Orochimaru could've even been Nawaki's sensei. It would make sense considering he was Tsunade's brother and there seems to be strong tradition of teammates mentoring eachothers siblings, students mentoring their sensei's children, etc. Orochimaru also knew that Nawaki had received the necklace on his birthday which could further bolster the idea that he was his sensei or at the very least Orochimaru had an interest in him.
Later on in Chapter 156 we see that Orochimaru offers to bring back both Dan and Nawaki with the Edo Tensei which would mean he had Nawaki's genetic material in order to revive him.
That being said, could it be a very real possibility that Orochimaru killed Nawaki after attempting to convince him to become his next host as a way of obtaining Senju DNA or could he have done it simply out of spite?
