Alright, this chapter gave me an idea on where the plot's going. Remember, this is a theory, a guess, so don't be an a-hole if I'm wrong like people were to SirDerpObito.
1. Naruto's choice.
In some form or another, Naruto and Sasuke will fight the tree god and/or Obito and Madara(or whoever succeeds in being on top). When they do, they'll be outclassed. During the fight, there'll be a bond between Naruto and the god tree via the bijus inside of Naruto. The god tree will produce a fruit. They'll learn of the history of the fruit and its power. Sasuke suggest they eat in order to gain the power to defeat their enemies. However, Naruto, realizing that he'd be continuing the curse of hatred, chooses to not choose the easy path and decides on using his own power to solve the crisis. This will be the decision he'll make.
The tree god will be facinated with Naruto. It'll talk to him via the bond. It will be touched by Naruto's good heart and desire for peace, and it'll stop lashing out at the world.
Here's why it'll side with Naruto. The entire reason why it's mad is that its power was stolen by humans previously for war use. As Madara said, the tree god was revered, and was kept out of war. That's why it was mad that its power was stolen.
But here is Naruto, a human that uses its power, not to dominate like Kaguya, but to bring peace to the world. He, unlike other humans, chooses to not eat the fruit to solve his problems unlike other humans. This shows the bijus what true strength is like the sage said.
2. The final buffs.
Sasuke however, wants to dominate the world in order to change the system, so he'll eat the fruit, gaining immense power. This will give him the rinnnegan and insane chakra levels as well as all nature types. It'll also give him the creation of all things and izanagi. His susanoo will be juubi level. These sorts of powers.
Sasuke will try to kill the tree god, whom he considers the (excuse the pun) root of all the world's problems. However, in order to survive, it merges with the only human it trusts, Naruto. He becomes the tree god's jinchuriki, something even the sage most likely never did. It entrusts its power to Naruto to make the world right. Naruto gains wood style, an insane one, as well as the ability to constantly gather natural energy while moving. He'll be the pinnacle of a sage. His mastery of natural energy will become immense.
This will be the set up for Naruto and Sasuke's last battle. It'll likely by through a time skip so that the 2 would train to use these incredible powers (I'm hoping). Then there will come their final battle for the title of hokage. The 2 strongest ninjas will make a fight that'll determine what direction the world will take.
