Even from a young age, naruto could easily make a ton of clones. I don't think it's unrealistic to say he's made hundreds of clones on the fly before. As we now know, clones retain information they learned during their existence and, transfer that knowledge back to the original after they disperse.

Imagine if naruto had created 1000 clones at the beginning of every day over the time skips. He might send 400 to go practice various techniques he might be working on learning, 100 to the library to study up on various techniques, another 100 to go on ninja missions to practice his skills in the field. another 100 might just go off to help people around the village and visit neighboring towns. I think this would be very important, as naruto would want to help people but not be very good at it, so he'd want to actually learn more in the library so he could help his new friends. Finally, the remaining 300 clones would be dedicated to developing brand new techniques. Things like edo tensei, ftg, rasengan, etc, were developed in a relatively short period of time (30-50 years max.)

A Breakdown
Technique practice: 400 clones -> 1200 years after timeskip
Technique R&D: 300 clones -> 900 years after timeskip
Ninja Missions: 100 clones -> 300 years after timeskip
Traveling/Misc: 100 clones -> 300 years after timeskip
Studying: 100 clones -> 300 years after timeskip.

Total: 3000 Years

A sidenote: if naruto chose to study things such as shadow clone chakra control, methods of replishing chakra faster, rejuvenation potions, or sage mode, his training could actually end up increasing the number of clones he could make each day. For example, after one week of study he might increase the amount of clones he could make daily to 2000. after a month, it might become practical for him to be creating 10 000 clones every day. If that were the case, he might end up living 20 000-100 000 years during this period of time. However this theory is outside the scope of this topic.

So naruto could have 'lived' 3000 years during the timeskip and potentially become the most powerful ninja ever depending on what he ended up learning and developing during that period of time. Even Madara hasn't lived that long.

True but he didn't know about the shared experience during the timeskip so he never would have thought to do so.

No offense but that theory is terrible. Naruto only has produced that many shadow clones on a small amount of occasions and during those moments he did not maintain them very long. there is no way he could use them for the large amount of time you describe. Plus even if he could your theory is just largely flawed in many ways.

True. However, what is making him extremely powerful at this point in Biju Modo and Kurama. If he couldn't master that, he wouldn't be in the Top 10 right now.

Imagine if naruto figured out how to replenish his chakra with sage mode and continually be producing regular clones, so that there was no limit at all.

Or if naruto figured out a way to link his soul to the world of the dead to get unlimited chakra. He could literally make millions of clones.

Millions of clones would mean hundreds of years lived per second.

in what ways. and it's creating the clones that's most difficult, after your chakra has been divided up they don't further tax you.

That's true, but if he mastered genjutsu, taijutsu, and all of the techniques in konoha including ftg, s/t jutsu, all elements, and figured out how to get all KKG like kabuto, and developed a bunch of new op techs, he could be top 1.

naruto nearly fainted after using 1000 clones to learn one jutsu so no :p also if he was to strong it'd be a boring story

I can't see how naruto's brain doesn't fry after receiving so much information from his dispersed clones.

Instead of 1000 clones and dying, how about he just makes 4 clones and becomes 4X as strong?

That would be hilarious. He just comes back and destroys akatsuki himself in couple of minutes.

Yes, this could have happened if Jiraya told him. What the heck was he doing?! The only thing he did for Naruto during the timeskip is increase physical abilities, skill in shadow clones, and a bigger ransengan. Was he so focused on the 9 tails or something?

The Shadow Clone Jutsu is a forbidden jutsu. Jutsu's are forbidden when they have severe negative consequences or go against the natural order. Remember how Naruto would become extremely weak after training with the shadow clones all at once. That's because all the damage and fatigue along with the knowledge gained by each close is passed to the original user. If Naruto used the clones in the fashion that the OP described, he would have received 3000 years of fatigue and aging in that time skip and likely would have died.
