I have been thinking about this since I've seen hashirama used it the things is all of you guys made good point but the ironic thing is that sage art: Gate of the Great God and naruto's torii seal means almost the same thing naruto's version is just a shortening for it... Those big gates that hashirama brought down are called torii's and it's somewhat of a sealing just just like naruto's torri seal.

Now the real question is why did naruto's seal change from the eight Tetragram seal to the torri seal that as according to the nine tails it's either similar are the same seal the sage of the path and why is it similar to hashirama sealing jutsu.......

The answer is that the key that Naruto used to open the seal contained the Torii seal as the replacement when Naruto sealed Kurama again.
I am saying Minato placed the Torii seal on that key and naruto just turned the key and the Torii seal activated.

Maybe Mito taught it to Hashirama the same way Minato learned Fūinjutsu from Kushina
