This is my theory on it. Anything is plausible until we see what exactly happened. Minato does have black eyes and his mermaid mother is part black slime. Coincidence? I think not!

He has blue eyes.

This is definitely a crazy theory. Trolling or joking are words that cannot describe this.

During the era before the sage of six paths, the juubi was leaking its hatred everywhere. The hatred would grow into the worms that live inside the earth and devour the bones of gamabuntas fore fathers as they grew into humans. The sage of six paths empowered the hate humans, giving them the power of blonde hair and pearly white teeth. These hate humans learned how to use jutsu so they moved very fast and studied the dictionary to become very smart. Soon two of the hate parents got trapped underwater where they turned into black slime.

This black slime suddenly mutated with a seal and turned into a mermaid. The mermaid came out of the water and gave birth to a small baby named minato. That's the orgins of the namikaze clan. Tsunade and Dan had just found the baby by the shore, and tsunade put 99% of her chakra into it, while dan put a portion of his soul into the baby. The baby grew up and had a thing for red haired women.

This is definitely a crazy theory. I don't think its likely though.
