Minato himself wasn't sealed. The Reaper Death Seal kills the Sealer as a side effect. Death isn't the direct effect of being sealed.

Imagine a move so OP that it kills the user as a side effect. Basically the Reaper Death Seal can be used to seal anything, similar to Totsuka. Yet, it comes at the price of ones life. Think Izanagi.

I thought RDS sealed the user as well, hence why Kabuto didn't revive Minato and Hiruzen.
