This picture kind of got me thinking on this most auspicious snowy morning.

You ever thought that maybe the reason why Kakashi is so good at what he does, so laid back, doesn't have a gf, has no aspirations and jumps head first into any battle without question is because he doesn't really care if he lives or dies?

I mean think about it... all of the evidence points towards this conclusion:

Look at his background:

- Lost his best friends

- Lost his Sensei

- Lost his father

BAM!!

that alone is enough to drive the most rigid person over the edge

Now fast forward a little:

- Joins Anbu (they face extreme danger in every mission, unlike a regular Konoha shinobi)

- Becomes anti-social

Fast Forward a little more:

- Has no aspirations to become Hokage

- Still grieves over his best friends death 15 years later

- Has no girlfriend and desires no kind of intimate relationship

- Hesitant to become a tai-jo (Captain of a team)

FF a little more:

- reluctantly becomes a captain

- sends every single student back to the Academy

- Finally meets Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura

- Is late to every meeting

- Only trains Sasuke (another depressed soul)

- Hardly participates in Gai's silly antics

FF a little more:

- Tries to take down Orochimaru by himself

- Tries to take down Itachi (now thats just suicide)

FF a LOT more:

- attacks Tendo one on one

FF a LOT more:

- attacks MS sasuke one on one

- TURNS DOWN HOKAGE and only agrees to be hokage because he has no other choice

FF a LOT more:

- Leads entire shinobi alliance division

- Fights several Bijuu at once with only help from Gai

- Fights Obito on Obitos home turf (Kamuiland)

FF a little more:

- Faces off against JJ Madara

- Faces off against Kaguya

i don't know about you but this man has all the symptoms of a person who doesn't want to live anymore. I know many of you are going to say, oh thats what a great shinobi does regardless, which is true but the fact that Kakashi has zero interest in ANYTHING leads me to believe this guy really is suicidal. Then again its just a theory...

maybe he's like this guy:

Daxos: There can be no victory here. Why do you smile?

Stelios: Arcadian, I've fought countless times, yet I've never met an adversary who could offer me what we Spartans call "A Beautiful Death." I can only hope, with all the world's warriors gathered against us, there might be one down there who's up to the task.

discuss!

he has Obito's eye. it'd be a disgrace to his memory if Kakashi gave up like that.

Because Kakashi knows that if he dies, he'll be reunited with Rin and Obito in the pure land. So basically he doesnt give any f@cks about dying.

If you think that this is a bad thing, then I'm sorry for you. A true loss can never be overcome, there will always be a hole left behind.

Other than that, Kakashi is interested in pervy books, does this count?

I lost my mom over 18 years ago. Trust me I know exactly what it's like. And yes I've been suicidal in the past that's why I understand his character more than anything

Pervy books = Naruto porn

Porn is a symptom of depression

Yeah it can. And it's crucial that someone kicks themselves back into place before it becomes an addiction. When I fell into it (a span of about 2 weeks, I was 15) it was after I was embarrassed at my J.R.O.T.C. dance in front of almost (maybe more than) 200 people. My date was (to a SMALL extent) almost forced into being jilted from me for another guy once we got here. He made out with her in front of me before we left. Made her sit at the end of the table around his friends. So on so forth.

But she dumped him a month or two later & regrets every second of her time with him to this day. And then the following week of the disaster some idiot in computer programming was talking about "www.&%$@#&^%project.com" (can't remember what "&%$@#&^%" was) and our teacher told us to look it up for extra credit. Used.org, got the wrong address (nude models), and didn't leave for about 10 minutes. Went back four times over the following 2 weeks before I snapped myself in place.

BUT learning my lesson has allowed me to help others in similar sinking ships. Never say you're "alone"--there's always someone out there who can understand for every loss you have. Except Sakura.

I've felt like it was quite apparent that Kakashi's development as a character went from fighting like he was gonna die anytime almost as a way of rushing it, to fighting both smarter and harder after he formed a bond with the kids of team 7 because he had found something new to live and fight for. I think that started in their confrontation with Zabuza and was solidified after rescuing Naruto from the end of his fight with Sasuke. You can see his old attitude a bit during the struggle against Obito but even then he pulls through by reminding himself that he has to continue fighting for Naruto's dream.

And as far as dying being a disgrace to Obito's memory I think he already felt he had defiled it by not protecting Rin like he had promised he would.

Him jumping into battle may have to do with him actually being a powerful shinobi?...
