Just hear me out please.
Kaguya is this supernatural being that lusts for Chakra. She needs and wants to unify the whole chakra in the NV.
According to manga chakra = life essence ( If you waste all of your chakra you will die,etc )
The reason why Kaguya takes orders even if she is considered the most powerful existing being so far is that she knows little of war since probably she was created just to collect chakra and stabilize the wars between humans.
The humans probably damaged the nature around them and that saddened her which led her to giving them chakra and the rest we all know.
Kaguya might be the "incarnation" of nature under a human form.
Nature is life => energy. Without Nature people would die and so on...
So the tree, Kaguya, the nature. They might be one and the same.
