I would just like to throw a possibility out there that I don't think many have considered.
After today's chapter, many have interpreted that Kaguya originally wielded the byakugan and got the sharingan after eating the tree. I don't think it's the case.
I think Kaguya originally had the byakugan and the sharingan. I believe that the juubi actually got the sharingan from her. I'll explain.
First off, and I'm well aware that this could just be a drawing error, but Kaguya was shown with that slit on her head while Hagoromo was telling her story. She was shown with it, however, before he had even gotten to the part of her eating the fruit.
I believe she needed the power of the fruit for her Infinite Tsukuyomi plan. As Hagoromo explained, chakra is used to connect people. And also, Tsukuyomi is a jutsu that use their power while keeping them alive. I think Kaguya needed to eat the fruit in order to gain the power necessary to launch a wide scale Tsukuyomi without killing those trapped in the genjutsu. She is probably the one who first distributed chakra from the tree out to others, simply to give the power to be self sustainable while trapped in tsukuyomi. It is also possible that by eating the fruit, she gained the power to temporarily control the tree, also aiding in her ability to keep them trapped via the roots.
Now this raises the question "why does the tree have the sharingan?" I think the tree got the sharingan by devouring Kaguya. Something note worthy to point out; the original god tree and the juubi aren't exactly the same thing. The juubi is the incarnation of the tree, as said by Hagoromo
I think that the tree, in an effort to regain it's chakra, incarnated itself into a demon, the juubi, and sucked the power of those connected to the tree. Kaguya was one of those people. When the tree did this, it gained access to Kaguya's greatest power, her sharingan, which is why the incarnation has it. This event must've taken place after Kaguya had children which passed on some chakra that was inside of her, which is why the incarnation ended up coming after the kids. In fact, it is possible that the tree turned into the juubi after devouring Kaguya. I will also point out that Hagoromo and his brother were grown men when the juubi came after them, which again suggests that it, if it did kill Kaguya, incarnated quite some time after their birth. Their mother would've been older and probably weak enough to be overtaken by then.
There are many possible scenarios and nothing is proven, as I said this is merely a theory, but personally, the main thing I believe is that Kaguya was the original wielder of both eye powers. At least I hope this is the case, as it would make for a more interesting part of the story imo
