So I have a theory I wanted run by the based on Kabuto's fight with the Uchiha Bro's
I think that we are getting flashbacks as part of izanami. Itachi may want to know Kabuto's history so he can change his 'fate/destiny'. Maybe Izanami will change the fact people forgot about him - which resulted in his little freak out and subsequent transition to his current state.
By changing kabuto past/destiny/fate (seriously not sure which one you call it) he may become a more neutral character. Alternatively the edo tensei may be dispelled, as he would never have learnt it if it wasn't for Oro. What ever the details I would be suprised if Kabuto died by izanami. I think it will be used to end Edo tensei and that is it. That way Itachi can have his little 'talk' and Kabuto can escape with his life. By why shouldn't he die?
Once the war has ended may people have thought Naruto will end. If Kabuto escapes I can see him wondering for a while before being corrupted again by Oro (well his cells at least). That way he can regain his original resolve and execute another destruction of the leaf plan. This would set up for either a time skip arc or the final arc of naruto after the war.
Don't reply with ' As if Itachi is gonna f#ck Kabuto with his jutsu, Kabuto should just die already'. You would not believe how many people said basically that when I was formulating a less developed version of my theory. I want proper responses people
