I believe that Jiraiya gathered too much Natural energy while sinking and turned into a toad. He learned a way to stop himself from turning into a toad statue and survived and is able to breathe as a toad in the water. He resurfaced but no one knows it's him but he is a lot happier because he can do what he does best secretly, if you know what I mean. Mark my words U_U​

If Obito can be crushed by a boulder and be rescued by a legendary ninja called Madara Uchiha who has been hooked up for years into the Mazou in a secret cave.... then why not?
