Introduction:
Due to the length of this speculation I decided to split it up into two parts.Re-reading my other speculation, I had notice something important. While it was seemingly interesting, I felt that it had ultimately failed to bring anything to the story plot wise. So in order to rid myself of this feeling, I begin contemplating on a much more productive speculation that could be actually used in the story’s plot. This deep cogitation of mine leads me to the realization of how the author could possibly use Sasuke’s journey to not only introduce a new arc into the story, but to answer the mountain of questions pertaining to the Rikudou Sennin life and decisions. This would serve as a memento seeing as how Naruto’s quest for peace has him learning more and more about the Juubi, so it would only be right for Sasuke to start learning more about the Rikudou Sennin. In taking this path, the beginnings of the ninja system would be explained in depth as well as the shadowing of the Uchiha. Consequently this journey is caused by Itachi’s revelations to Sasuke.
Itachi’s Importance:
Itachi made himself naked before Sasuke. Meaning, Itachi refuted Sasuke’s beliefs of him of being perfect; in fact he let Sasuke know of his many flaws that he kept in secret. Informing his younger brother, that because he himself sought perfection in everything he did, he ultimately failed in his plans. This seems to have weighed heavily on Sasuke’s mind; due to fact Sasuke has always seen Itachi as special. Special in a sense that Itachi was always consistency be able to perform beyond expectations. Itachi was the type of person whose accomplishments were reached so easily that it rendered them useless. In other words, Itachi was everything that Sasuke had aspired to be, he admired his older brother for his ability to be “special.” Itachi’s words and revelations to Sasuke began to make him question, it began to make him question why Itachi’s bond was so strong to the Leaf that he killed his own family. And in this light Sasuke goes through some much needed maturity.

Sasuke’s Maturity:
After Itachi leaves, Sasuke begins to attack Kabuto while he is still in Izanami, but he suddenly stops.
Itachi’s words at this point are shown to have an effect, a good one at that. Having seen Itachi’s side of the story, Sasuke wants to understand what exactly the world around him actually means, and he is seen questioning the definite answer of what the ninja system is as a whole. Sasuke now is not questioning about what happened to his family anymore, he has the views from the people who were directly involved with the incident (Danzo, Itachi, Tobi), and is now working on his resolve to the entire aspect. It is at this point that Juugo and Suigetsu present to Sasuke a scroll that will allow them to gain control over the war. Sasuke promptly notices that the contents of the scroll give him an opportunity to have his questions fully answered. But to do this Sasuke needs the power of a certain man.

Revival of the White Snake:

Upon Orochimaru’s revival, Orochimaru states that he does not care for the war in the slightest of ways, but instead he wants Sasuke’s body. After Sasuke has shown Orochimaru the scroll, Orochimaru blandly asks what Sasuke will do after he meets them. Sasuke states that he wishes to know everything from them, and he wants to know how it all began. Orochimaru mildly questions if Sasuke is having second thoughts on his revenge to which Sasuke states, “that he is dotting on his revenge, and that what transpired between him and Itachi only made his hatred to Konoha grow.” But even after this, he still wants to know why Itachi despite his name becoming stained still had his loyalties to the Leaf. Sasuke is choosing to understand why Itachi did what he did, and is taking a step back before allowing his hatred too “fully take over him.” With that said Orochimaru modestly notes the difference between the manipulation of him and how he is now; and states that is not bad. The two set off to a place that Sasuke knows well.
