The Maharaja wanted to build a new palace and sent out his servants in search of timber. In their search they found valuable and rare trees that was near a village. The people in that village worshiped nature and to them, those trees were sacred.

To try to prevent the servants from cutting down the trees, all of the villagers, including the children hugged them.

Unfortunately that didn't stop the servants from beheading over 300 villagers to get the timber......very peaceful.

I think he was inaccurately referring to native Americans as Indians. Which is funny considering they were scalping each other long before and after the Europeans arrived. Sometimes they would team up with them to wipe out other tribes.
