...make it seem like a jutsu that anyone with great chakra control would master. I mean, the theory behind it is really simple: control chakra in your palm into a ball shape. It's pretty odd how it's so rare. Naruto mastered it in a rather short time despite not having great chakra control at that time. Minato took three years to develop it, which i find strange. What was there to develop? How come nobody else came up with something so simple as a ball of chakra?

It's what happens when someone invents something. It takes quite a long time to conceive something, even if it uses the same materials. When someone knows knowledge of how to make it, it takes significantly less time than it took to invent it.

Wind is not common, infact it is rear.

Rasengan is supposedly neutral. You're probably thinking of Rasenshuriken.

well summoning up a mass of chakra in the palm is quite simple ( just like feet for climbing trees)

the thing that must be hard is molding chakra in to a sphere and also making the chakra rotate at ultra hihg speeds must be hard

i guess the faster one can make his chakra rotate without dierupting his\her rasengan the greater the amount of damage it does

well it's only a speculation coz initially when naruto was not fully in control of rasengan when he did rasengan on tree u see only spiral cuts

but when later he does it on kabuto u see greater damage

jiriya performs rasengan on noob and the noob flies 50 feet away

minato performs rasengan on obito and obito hits the dust and the whole area is destroyed to shit

konohamaru's rasengan falls on ground and shit happens

That's true, and I like to believe that Minato had other things to do during those three years.

Minato took three years because he was studying the Bijuu Dama and based his jutsu off of that. Even more so, as others have pointed out, it takes a lot longer to develop a jutsu than to learn it. Its rare for other shinobi to know it because only people who have been taught by Minato have the knowledge to teach it (Jiraya, Kakashi) and those students can pass the info on if they want (Naruto to Konohamaru). But its not a clan jutsu or anything, so its rare to see.

You're right.. It just strikes me as odd that Minato was the only one to come up with it. Someone could have seen him using it for example and figure it out, especially if they had good chakra control.

Firstly, grammar. Second, it has nothing to do with the body of a sage/being distant relative of senju. Third, yes.

For the second point, you see Kakashi making a base Rasengan: he doesn't have the body of a Sage. Minato and Konohamaru can make Rasengan: they don't have bodies of sages.

Wind element isn't necessary. Kakashi and Jiraiya didn't have this element.

Naruto hasn't "mastered" rasengan yet because he still can't create it in one hand without the aid of clones or senjutsu. So it's been 3 years and Naruto hasn't mastered it.

Yeah but

1. Humans can't do Bijudama anyway;

2. It only makes sense that Biju, being essentially animals, would use something simple yet effective. A sphere is the most basic shape (like water in zero gravity). They have a lot of raw power and use it in the most optimal way possible.

Yeah but that doesn't stop people from speculating. Say I'm writing a fan fic (that's not true but still) and I want some educated guesses on certain subjects. We could have all just said, "Oh well, Kishi can do anything he wants anyway, there's no point in discussing what he does and the best thing we can do is just read". But that would have been boring, wouldn't it?

Lastly u must have a good reserve of chakara to be able to use it else after one strike u will run dry and if u miss sorry for you, that will also explain why kakashi resulted to raikiri it takes less chakara and its compatible with his element. The chakara u have the stronger ur rassengan.

I remember Jiraiya saying there's much more to the Rasengan than he actually explained to Naruto.

Jiraiya is just that good of a teacher.

Those "3 steps"... Probably he invented them to teach Naruto.

Maybe people HAD the idea of making a ball... they just couldn't do it.
Minato created the method of doing it.
And Jiraiya created the simplified method...
