He didn't need to embrace his dark side, he already was dark. He needed to find balance between the light and dark. It's not very Buddhist to be dark, accept your dark side more, then continue causing chaos.

That is a matter of perspective. Also, I was merely making a point given the whole scenario. My original point still stands: he would have embraced whatever he saw.
