Finally, we've got the answers from Hashirama:

I want to show you something interesting, when Hashirama answered the first question ''What is the village''

If you take a good look at bottom of the pg, you'd notice that Hashirama's answer is divided in three parts and any of them represent one of the previous three hokages:

1)3rd Hokage -->the village was something that could CONECT clans
2)2nd Hokage -->an important cornerstone to turn chaos into ORDER and maintain it
3)4th Hokage -->something to PROTECT CHILDREN and avoid useless quarrels

I feel that it is totally the opposite, it's representing what each of the hokagae's failed at:
3rd Hokage---- failed to connect the clans, under his rule the uchiha clan was ordered to be wiped out because the clans couldn't get along
2nd hokage--- failed to create order, his hatred of the uchiha caused the uchiha to want to rebel in the first place
4th hokage--- failed to bring peace, he was also thought by jirayia to be the child of prophecy but failed to live up to that, he also was unable to protect naruto as he grew up and he left obito for naruto to face as well as naruto having to deal with all the hatred.
