I kind of want to rule Boruto in and out because if he wants to play that support role in Sasuke's sense, he might not always be in the Village. Even when Sasuke is in the Village, Shikamaru still plays his vital role alongside Naruto, so its not like Sasuke replaces him either.

So Boruto is either going to play Sasuke's role only to Sarada, or he'll play both Sasuke and Shikamaru's role.

Flip side being Mitsuki, if he accommodates with domestic life like he's doing now, I don't see a reason for him not to help out. His whole purpose is being by Boruto's side, but at some point that's going to be near impossible. So I guess the next best thing is him finding his own purpose, which might be helping Sarada out. I mean it would make him more interesting than his cheer-leading thing he has going on IMO.

If not either, Shikadai by default. I would rather have an oldie though. Maybe Asuma's daughter?

I forget she even exists, honestly. If she's strong then yeah that sounds like a perfect place for Mirai. Once...i've seen or read anything that she appears in.

Basically he plans to babysit Naruto into the Hokage seat by being an older brother figure but also cleaning up future threats from the shadows so that his rule is never threatened.

The plot is a straight, cold assassination mission. He also turns sinister whilst extracting information and battling enemies with his bloodthirsty ANBU team members. Shikamaru is probably the best character.

Say what you want, but I think that Naruto's overall good nature is necessary to maintain peace. It's hard to take someone seriously when he gets his hands dirty, while still trying to maintain peace. Grudges will always be created in that way and the cycle of hatred would start all over again.

We already learned that even if it was for the good of the village, the actions of the ninjas still caused trouble for the next generation. Naruto's way peacefully brought an end to the conflicts, even allowing past enemies to redeem themselves.

But yes, it still isn't a perfect way. That's why he needs someone like Sasuke to do the necessary things he wouldn't do, but only Naruto's way can progress "peace" as far as it has gone.
