Lets start with an obvious fact..
We all know about Uchiha Massacre... Uchiha Itachi was forced by Danzou to annihilate his entire clan..
Danzou forced Itachi to kill his entire clan in exchange of his brother's life....

Now what do you guys think, Itachi was afraid of Danzou?? Or he thought that Danzou could not be defeated??

Now let us come to the point that at that time, there was another Mangekyou Sharingan user, Uchiha Shisui... Now what the HELL happened at that time that both of them acted as a mere pawn in the hands of Danzou??

Now as you can clearly see in the panel that Shisui didn't gave his eye to Danzou willingly. He clearly stated Danzou stole his eye. But it's a matter of common sense, Danzou didn't have the power for such a feat....

Could it be, that someone was pulling the strings from behind?

Well, many would argue that Itachi was put in a shitty condition, left with no other choice. Danzou had Shisui's eye, very true, but people tend to forget that Itachi was also in possession of the other eye of Shisui. So naturally Itachi didn't have any reasons to be afraid of Danzou.

Now the BIG question is what was Obito doing there? Did Itachi find him or he simply wanted to be found?
Looking at his indirect approach of doing things I think the latter one is the truth.

I think that Obito was the man pulling the strings from behind...

1. Both Shisui and Itachi were considered genius even in the elite Uchiha clan. Only Danzou was in support of eliminating the Uchiha clan. Danzou was not even in their league. Only one man at that time surpassed them, he was also an Uchiha and he is Uchiha Obito (Mentoring Itachi himself bears testimony to this fact.. I don't mean to offend Itachi though).

2. Obito met Danzou at that time. It seems that Obito had a major role in this regard, to put it bluntly, he helped Danzou (Remember Danzou also took the service of Orochimaru, the enemy of the Leaf).

3. The meeting of Obito and Itachi wasn't simply a co-incidence, it looked like Obito wanted Itachi to discover him.
Notice that this is the only time, where we see Obito sporting the same hair, just like Madara.

The nine-tails attack was Orchestrated by Obito. For what? I hardly doubt it was just to reduce Konoha down to a pile of rubble. It's a strong possibility that Obito wanted Uchiha eliminated because of the thread they posed to eternal Tsukuyomi given their natural Sharingan reaction.

He wanted to frame up the Uchihas for the Kyuubi Attack, and he expertly calculated that the Uchihas would revolt because of the oppression and accusations for the said incident, thus "legitimizing" their extermination in the eyes of the Hokage and the Elders.

The only Uchiha able to defeat Danzou would have been Itachi or Shishui. Danzou is no slack and he was trained by the second alongside his rival the third. He was powerful, influential and ruthless and was to be feared. Itachi nor shishui feared him for their life but that of their families. Good thread though, not like the others but descent nonetheless
