To explain his truth I would have to explain the Byakugan, Sharingan, and Rinnegan.
Here we see the Juubi has Rinnegan.
Here we see him with a mixture of the rinnegan and sharingan.
We see Obito, the new SO6P has the ability of many chakra natures at ounce. Maybe the original SO6P had different ones, or all of them. It is said that the SO6P himself made ninjutsu. It says nothing of Kaguya making and or using ninjutsu. The chakra natures earth and water together make wood style jutsu. Together wood style and the rinnegan would have easily stopped the Juubi, but maybe he didn't create the wood style to stop the juubi, but to control. With control over the bujii he stole knowledge from it. Stealing the Juubis chakra then dividing it into nine tails different tails. But perhaps there was some chakra he couldn't divide. Where would that chakra go? Inside the moon. The little ckakra left would be put into the moon using Chibaku Tensei, awaiting the creation of the God Tree. The God Tree would look at the moon with it's fixed eye and awaken the chakra inside the to make the perfect genjutsu. Why would the plan tsuki no me fit so easily with the SO6P last efforts? Because the SO6P may have tried to use project tsuki no me himself but failed, leaving the idea to both his sons.
His spiritual awareness went to one son, the son of his yin nature. His eye techniques went to the other, the son of his yang nature. The son his yin nature believed that love was the answer to peace. The son of his yang nature believed that might was the answer to peace.
It is said that the brothers conflicted from the beginning. I believe the yin created the SEnju and the Yang created the Uchiha. The two then fought, but over what? Obito never said who he chose as a successor. So maybe he never did choose one.
Look at project stuki no me like this. They wish to control the world with genjutsu, correct. They want the world under their control, to rule it with might.
The yang's followers, the uchiha clan, truly believed might was the answer to peace, but perhaps they had a secret within themselves...the secret of love. Deep down they too believed that secret was the answer deep down.
As the yang began a family his powers were too shared. But maybe the bloodline grew thin, and instead of being born with the rinnegan they were born with the sharingan, a weakened state of the rinnegan. Then the Uchiha was broken up in two. One side being the Hyugga and the other being the Uchiha. The byakugan has the ability to see through pretty much anything, even the human body, to look through to see the chakra system. It can also see to very far distances depending on skills. Perhaps the elders of the Hyugga broke off and reproduced with normal people who did not have chakra, and their bloodlin grew thinner. But they did not lose their beliefs. They ruled their clan with might, having a high class and a low class.
The harsh yet loving Uchiha clan. They got the long end of the stick and kept a weaker version of their original eyes, the rinnegan. They kept only a portion of their power. As their power grew they would come to gain their power back, and as they got their power back they would be deemed worthy of the knowledge left behing by the yang. but to be deemed worty you would need to love. Perhaps the yang saw the errors of his beliefs and tried to undirectly show the new Uchiha their power source, love.

I believe the Byakugan is the man-made first version of the Sharingan.Like the cycle was broken. I will go into more detail with this more later in the theory.

We see that the Sharingan, after being pushed so far, turns into the Rinnegan. Keep this in mind for it will be needed.

We see that Kaguya had a child, and that child, the SO6P, was born with chakra flowing throught his veins. But....was it as strong as his mother's? The sage of six paths is also said to have rinnegan, but what if he was born with sharingan? What if he reached the limit with his sharingan and turned it into a rinnegan.

I believe the mixture is caused by something the SO6P did to the Juubi. What if the SO6P stole secrets of knowledge from the Juubi? And with that knowledge he was able to control it and made it evolve.
