So a lot of you were asking how the hell we see Naruto as the next sage of six paths since he didn't gather the chakra from all the beasts and how despite that, we still saw in chapter 629 1 tails with the rest of the beasts. Well this is a misunderstanding.
The key to become the next sage is not to control the chakra from all the beasts but actually know their names. That's why in an older chapter Naruto was mocking Obito for learning 9 new different names. You could ask why those names are so important but in fact it's not so much the names as much as what they symbolise.
If it was just the chakra needed then a powerful ninja like Madara or Hashirama would have accompliced this a long time ago. The fact that the names is the key can be explained if you consider that the names show that the 9 beasts actually have feelings and they are more than huge amounts of chakra. Therefore, someone who does not understand this cannot become the next sage since the previous one was viewing the beasts as more than power. Also, the names is something that gives to the beasts freedom. No matter how powerful a ninja could be, he could not force the beasts to reveal their true names. In this same of thinking the fact that the beasts revealed theirs at Naruto shows that they follow him on their own free will rather than being forced.
