By the reaction of madara when hashirama comments about his brother it makes me wonder that hasirama had something to do with izunas death and that madara really loved his brother.

Thus to avenge his broters death he took his eyes to obtain his eternal mangekyo sharingan and then went on to fight

We've already seen in the manga that Izuna was alive when he took his eyes.

Hashirama cared about Madara and considered him a friend, as seen in the latest chapter. Unless it was an accident, Hashirama probably wouldn't go and ruin his friendship with Madara by killing his kid brother.

At first I had thought maybee he had died during a battle with the Senju, and after Tobirama brought him back with Edo Tensei to try and form an alliance (Konoha), Madara was appaled.

Then I thought maybee it was because Tobirama killed him.

But after someone elses theory I think you are right! I think maybee Tobirama had been fighting Izuna, and had planned to kill him. Hashirama arrives just in time to save Izuna; however, with the whole Uchiha Pride, Izuna tried to attack Tobirama while he was distracted, and then Hashirama killed him in the defense of his brother...maybee more through instinct than actual killing intent.

Izuna was alive. Madara started to become blind. Izuna offered Madara his eyes voluntarily. Izuna later died honourably in battle, fighting to the death in his blind state.

That's a fact. Though a plot twist can change everything.

It would be really fun if we were to find out that after he and his brother swapped eyes with each other (rather than one ripping out the other's eyes), both getting identical EMS Sharingans, Madara died for real after his battle with Hashirama, and it's Izuna who's wrecking havoc in the world right now.

I often wondered if it is possible for both brothers with MS to obtain EMS just by exchanging each other's MS eyes before becoming blind......your theory is quite intriguing...however it is Madara creating the havoc......onoki clearly could identify him as Madara......

Considering the brothers swapping eyes thing, it's interesting to note that Itachi's eyes were close to blindness by the time he died... And that, once implanted on Sasuke, they not only seemed to work perfectly, but also seemed to enhance his sight somewhat (the "these eyes see well in the dark" statement).

So maybe a pair of brothers could very well swap eyes that were close to useless and this would get both their eyesights back, as well as grant them the EMS.

Also, you have a point on him being Madara.
