That's not true, kids can easily be taken away. Slaves were only sold or passed down. Kids are nurtured, the parents responsibility is to take care of them till they're old enough to do it themselves. Slaves were not nurtured or even thought of as furniture.

Even dead beat parents see their kids for more than what a master sees a slave.
