If so why didn't he try to stop the first or second summoning? Since he tried to stop the last one even tho he had no control over it being cancelled.

Hiruzen said, "I must stop the third at all cost". That's a sign of worrying at the very least. I am a Hiruzen fan like you, but Minato scares me. Even I can tell he is the fiercest and the deadliest out of them all. It's not about having the strongest jutsu or the largest number of jutsu, it's how you use even a few jutsus. And Minato is the most efficient and brilliant tactician I have seen thus far. The whole Kyuubi incident? I mean Minato is all over everything, it's just nuts.
