The true role of the Kages

Why does everyone assume that the Kages will play a role in the defeat of Kaguya?​

In This Scan Hagoromo states that he has knows a jutsu but it is not mentioned for what purpose, so automatically everyone assumes it's to defeat kaguya.

Its obviously a jutsu that will stop or reverse the effects of IT.
A jutsu only known to the sage because he probably had to perform it once, thats why only he can do the seals as he mentions he will do.

So while Naruto and sasuke seal kaguya, the kages will end infinite tskuyomi.
and in the end the fight with kaguya will be a mere myth, as no one but team 7 witnessed the fight.​
