The wind blew like razor, lifting dirt up off the ground and clouding the sky in a brown mist, cutting into strips as it flys past the temple, and atop, stood the Sage of Six Paths.
The Sage couldn't sense any emotion flowing out of this masked man, it was as if he was a void, concealed by a mask to hide the dark abyss that lies within. And yet, he could feel something similar about him..
He raised his staff, and it began to flash a brilliant light that blinded the entire surrounding.
Sage: 'I will end this before it even begins.'
The Masked Man stood there, not even concerned about the blinding light that surrounded him.
Masked Man: 'Don't get too confident..'
The light ceased, the beast and the masked man gone with it. The dust that once shrouded the atmosphere had gone too.. As if the Sage's power had minimized everything within that area to a particle level.
Sage: 'Nothing can escape my staff, crafted from the minerals of a fallen star, it's power rivals that of the Ten Tails..'
A slight whisper caught his ear..
Masked Man: 'I told you not to get confident..'
The Sage felt the slightest touch on his body, and immediately sent out a force blast in a full 360 degree angle around him. Somehow the masked man didn't even budge. He grabbed the Sage, and chakra started flowing out from him.
Masked Man: 'Yes.. your power is mine. And after I take every last bit of it, I will collect every last bit of the Ten Tails from those vile things you call "friends" '
Sage: 'Don't you think you should take your own advice?'
The Masked Man was suddenly sent flying by a huge blast of wind. He was flying through the air, until a huge cluster of rock burst from the ground and the beast emerged, catching him in it's palm.
The Sage slammed his staff into the ground, and a massive wall of rock lifted up off the ground, eventually leaning over and dropping over the top of the beast.
Masked Man: 'You live up to your legend, maybe I should be taking this more seriously.. Kaenjin!'
The Masked Man slammed his hands into the ground, and a black wall came to greet the oncoming rock, smashing it into pieces.
Almost instantly after, a huge burst of fire flew straight through the wall, burning through the beast. And in the middle of the flame, the Sage flew through until he was in front of the beast. He held out his palms and gathered chakra into them.. At the same time the Masked Man rippled into a vortex and disappeared.
Sage: 'SHINRA TENSEI!'
The Beast was sent flying by a massive push of unrelenting force, smashing into a small mountain at the end of the valley. The Sage flew towards it, in his hand a red seal saying 'Contract'
He smashed the seal into the beast's forehead, releasing a red aura over the entire figure. The Seal covered the beast eventually, and released as the body of the beast disappeared in a white plume of smoke.
Sage: 'Now your monster won't do your bidding anymore..'
The Sage settled, believing the masked man had retreated.. He fell to his knees, exhausted by the use of his ocular powers. His old age restricted him too limited stamina..
Sage: 'What's happening!?'
Suddenly the entire atmosphere changed.. A ripple pattern surrounded the Sage, and his body started to fall into an abyss. The Masked Man appeared out of the ripple, and held his hand above the Sage's head.
Masked Man: 'Such a shame, but now i'm going to have to take your power..'
It was genjutsu, he had caught him inside it as soon as he looked at him when he burst through the barrier. But what kind of genjutsu could surpass that of the Rinnegan? The Sage knew of no possibility.
Masked Man: 'I can already feel your power flowing through me, the power of.. It left a fragment of it's power with you, and now i'm taking it back. Don't struggle, there's nothing left for you to fight for now.'
The Sage felt his energy draining.. He couldn't do anything, his will wasn't enough to repel this mysterious man.. He thought of his sons, his wife, his village..
Sage: 'Your wrong..'
The Masked Man looked down at him.. and the Sage could see a different type of ocular power, a red eye with black tomoes surrounding the center pupil.
Sage: 'I can still fight.. for my family!'
An image of them flashed into his mind..
Sage: 'For my village!'
His village flashed into his mind, as he raised himself from the ground, pushing against the unrelenting weight of the Masked Man's jutsu.
Sage: 'SIX PATHS SEAL!'
The body of the Sage flashed a brilliant red, and it surrounded the entire area around the Sage and the Masked Man.
Masked Man: 'What are you doing!?'
Sage: 'I know that you will be a harbringer of disaster.. And noone in this time can stop you.. That's why I will seal you in time ITSELF, to wait for another hero to end your existence!!'
The Sage smashed his seal into the Masked Man, a red string of light flew towards the beast. It exploded into a sphere of red aura, and absorbed into the Sage.
Sage: 'He is no longer your pet either, I will see that the peace I have strived for will continue to stay! Even in the next life, I will be there to stop you!'
Masked Man: 'Maybe I should follow my own advice..'
The Sage slammed his hand into the ground, and a huge burst of smoke rose out of the ground. And in the middle, was Kurama.
Sage: Kurama, no time to explain, but I need you to take the remain of my chakra.. I will come back to you eventually.. Some time in the future..
Kurama grunted, but accepted.
Kurama: I don't know what's going on old man, but since you created me I will do this, as your last wish.
~ Out in the distance, Kenji stood on the mountain path, away from the village. He watched as a red burst of light emit from the battle..
Kenji: The Six Paths Seal!? Father NO!
Kenji dropped down to the ground, crying..
He knew what the Six Paths Seal was, it was a jutsu that could seal anything inside time itself, and blast them many years into the future. But in return.. It takes the Sage's life.. The Ultimate jutsu of the Rinnegan, which would decide the fate of the world itself.
A voice suddenly emitted inside Kenji's head.. He wasn't sure what it was at first, but he then knew it was his father..
Sage: 'Kenji.. My dear son.. I know you want to know why I done this, but none of it matters now..'
Kenji listened, he was too shocked to utter a word.. Drowned in his tears..
Sage: 'Don't mourn over the lost.. Tend to the future my child, preserve the peace that I have long strived for, this is my Last Wish to you..'
Rain washed over the horizon, as if the heavens had opened up to this event. The red aura dissipated and all that was left was the thundering crash of rain. And atop the mountain, Kenji stood up with a new hope..
Kenji: 'Thank you, father..'
~ And in the distant future the same Sage stood in front of Naruto, still as great as ever.
Sage: 'So you see.. It's all up to you Naruto.. everything that has been passed down throughout the ages, has now been passed to you. Carry the torch, as we all have. And conquer the hatred that has plagued our world for too long!'
The Sage smiled, looking down to Naruto as he begun to fade into the light.. Naruto closed his eyes, rising up out of the light.. He whispered these last words.
Naruto: 'I won't let any of you down, I swear it!!'
The Sage faded into the light.. his body disappearing with the darkness..
~ And in the real world, Naruto woke up, opening his eyes to find Sakura greeting him, tears falling from her eyes..
