As Naruto slowly faded into unconciousness, he knew that he had failed.. yet again. He wondered whether he would ever fulfill his promise, if his resolve was all in vain..
Dust flowed all around him, and the only sound he could hear were the desperate cries and shouts of his comrades..
Sakura: 'Naruto!! WAKE UP!!'
He knew they were trying to revive him, but he let himself fade into the light. He knew that death was inevitable, he accepted it ever since he founded the resolve that he would die fighting Sasuke.. But he never thought it would turn out like this..
But something was reaching out to him, not letting him fade away. He let it grasp hold of him, accepting whatever was to come, as he is in fates hands now.
Inside his mind, he found himself waking up in a plain of light, a thin mist covered the atmosphere around him, and he could see a figure slowly approaching towards him..
All of his wounds were gone, and he was suited in his normal orange vest, facing towards this mysterious figure.
???: 'So I finally get to meet you, Naruto..'
Naruto hesitated to speak, confused at the look of this man.
He was a very tall man, atleast towering two feet above Naruto. He wore a long, white robe that swayed down onto the floor, with tomoe symbols similar to the Sharingan on each side. His face was a light tan colour, he had odd horns potruding out of the top of his headband, which had no symbol on it.
In his hand, he held a long staff with a circle-shaped symbol at the top, feathers hanging down off the top of it.
And his eyes, were none other then the Rinnegan.
Naruto: 'Who.. who are you? Why do you have the Rinnegan!'
???: 'I don't think who I am is very important right now Naruto, but its you.. Your story that intrigues me.. I have been watching you for a very long time, even before you were born, I knew you were the one.'
Naruto didn't know what to say, he simply stared at this person in confusion.. Who was he? What did he want? Why me?
???: 'I can see your confused, but I can at least give tell you who I am.. In your time, i'm referred to as the 'Sage of Six Paths'
Naruto's eyes opened wide with shock.. What was the Sage of Six Paths doing inside him!?
The Sage chuckled, humoured by Naruto's reaction.
The SO6P: 'Naruto, your story is one i've never seen, in all of the countless years i've watched from the afterlife, your story is truly a sad, yet inspiring one.'
The Sage's expression changed.
The SO6P:'I'm here to tell you, that the person.. The masked man.. I don't know who he is, but he managed to steal my power. That's why I placed my chakra in Kurama before he took my power, so that one day I could speak to you..'
Naruto finally mustered up the will to speak.
Naruto: 'But why? Why me? I'm just a fool who couldn't even save one friend.. I don't deserve anything, especially from you..'
The Sage didn't change his expression at all, listening intently to Naruto.
Naruto: 'In the end, I couldn't hold onto my resolve.. It was just as Sasuke said..'
The words repeated in Naruto's head.. Over and over..
Naruto: 'A fool like me was doomed from the start, from the VERY start. My life was horrible from the beginning, and so it was in the end. It doesn't matter who or what was depending on me, I failed in the end, so what does it matter now!'
The Sage walked to Naruto, his head facing down.
He raised his head as he reached Naruto, and spoke intently to him.
The SO6P: 'Naruto.. just because your story doesn't have a very happy beginning..'
He placed his hand on his shoulder.
The SO6P: 'Doesn't mean it can't have a happy ending!' He said with a smile on his face.
Naruto looked the man in the eyes, shocked by his belief in him.
The SO6P: 'And it is not the end, my friend!'
Naruto's expression changed.. If the Sage himself believed in Naruto, was his resolve all in vain? All of the people who put their hopes inside Naruto, were they not in vain either?
The SO6P:'Your friend can still be saved.. but sitting down doing nothing won't change anything!' He said intently, still smiling, and continued to speak.
The SO6P:'But first.. you need to stop that masked man. I can no longer do it, but i can give you this one last gift..'
Naruto stopped him there.
Naruto:'Don't say anything else.. He raised his head'
Naruto: 'I never go back on a promise, that's my ninja way!'
The SO6P: 'Well then, that's the person i've been watching all of these years. If you want to return to the living, I can do so for you now. But first..'

It was a bit of a rush, and i'm sure there are many mistakes in there. It was shorter then the other one, but i didn't want to cram this scene into one chapter.
Chapter 3 will be up in a couple of days, or maybe even tomorrow if I can be bothered to write it xd
ALL critisism is accepted and taken into perspective, as i'm just a beginning fanfic writer on the base and need all the help I can get
Also point out any grammar mistakes, i'm a major grammar nazi and HATE grammar mistakes.
