i didnt read the whole thing but this sounds like the point i made on the gift of the sages being part of sage mode, both of them being two parts of one complete sage mode

Third Eye Theory
I noticed some similarities in Jutsu Connection of some Charackters
And i wanted to make a quick summary i hope im right

So guys lets start
As we all know Hashirama Senju the First Hokage has a own unique Sage Mode
And his Granddaughter Tsunade Senju has herself a unique regeneration mode called Byakugou
If you look in detail there are some similarities with these Modes and generally Kishimoto hinted many things

So if you look at these two pictures you can notice obviously two things
A diamond marking on Tsunades forehead and a pearl marking on Hashiramas forhead
So first of all lets take a look at Tsunades Byakugou No Jutsus
Byakugou means literally Urna = Fine white hair
In Buddhist Culture
Urna a spiral or pearl forming symbol on the forhead of the buddha wich has the Third Eye
And the Third eye allows to see in the godly world
These marking on Tsunades forhead has obviously a connection to the real world
In this case to the Marking of the Buddhas

Hahsiramas Sage mode when he enters his sage mode he gets an marking on his forhead a pearl marking wich also has a connection the the buddhas
There are clearly connections to the markings of the buddha and the third eye
When Hashirama enters his sage mode what jutsu can he use of course this

If you look closely on hashiramas jutsu you cann see on his forhead also the markings wich represend the Third Eye

Hashiramas and Tsunades mode have obviously connections and similaritys to the Buddhas in form of a marking on the forehead
For these two modes and charackters kishi used many similaritys
Marking on the forehead like the buddhas
Blood connection Hashirama > Tsunade

Little summary
Tsunades And Hashiramas markings are a allusion to the marking of the buddhas and The Third eye of the buddhas
I woud also notice that the origin of the Buddism is from India so it coud be possible that the
Senju clan represents in some parts the Indian culture
They have many similaritys with the Indian culture

It is clear that the marking is connected to Buddhism. However, in the case of the manga, I doubt it is an eye. Tsunade's marking has been already to be sign of the release of her seal. It was explained that she can store chakra in her forehead, then when she release the seal, she can use that chakra to stimulate her regeneration.

Based, on Tsunade's explanation, I made a counter argument to the people who said that Hashirama's sage mode was a different SM connected to Sakura. My main argument is based on the limitation of SM. We know that the sage chakra is difficult to mold in battle. Thus, for people who can store chakra in their forehead using a seal, the smartest move would be to mold and store sage chakra in time of peace. Then, during a fierce battle, one can release the seal and use sage arts. I believe that the marking on Hashirama's forehead is a release of similar seal as Tsunade. He might have store Sage chakra in time of piece, and during his fight against Madara, he used that sage chakra.

To sum up, I think the two marking represents different version of the same seal. They are not third eye in the contest of the Narutoverse.

Actually it is just a connection to the real world and the markings of the buddas
Both are senju and both have similar markings on their forhead
And the whole senju clan represents the spirutal natural world
These connection are just to great
But you coud also be right
