If someone like Dai, Gai, and Lee can learn how to open the gates there's no reason why other more intelligent characters can't do it. He is strong in his own right and this is boosted into insane levels when opening the gates but if all the other ninjas can do it too, he won't even be in the top 50 list because the only thing he has is taijutsu.

The Jubbi Jins don't count since they are receiving major assistance from a extremely strong power source.

Gai fights naturally while Madara and Obito used steroids.

If you're going by natural strength, Tsunade. Otherwise, Obito could beat him easily, phasing through, but others can beat Obito due to not having to die after using a technique. Madara is the overall best character so far.

I think the person you were arguing with earlier was trying to say that the eigth gate isn't natural because it eventually ends up killing you and that a jutsu that releases so much power so quickly can't be considered natural despite the fact it isn't any kind of doujutsu or ninjutsu. Anyway for me with 'stolen powers' it's obviously Hagoromo and without 'stolen powers' it's Hashirama or the Third Raikage for me. Although the stolen power argument is stupid yes some characters are obviously handed powers to them but it is still power. Same as Nagato doesn't have a stolen power as he was given the rinnegan same with madara and izunas eyes.
