As we know, in the very beginning the Hermit Sage of Six Paths utilized his Creation of All Things Jutsu to form the Bijuu, among other things, from Yoton and Inton, 'Light style power' and 'Shadow style power' respectively.

"Inton...founded upon mental energies that governed imagination, can be used to create form out of naught..." "Yoton...founded upon physical energies that govern life, can be used to instill life in that form..."
The combination of these two elements essentially rendered the user a god, giving them the ability to create at will; as the Sage himself did.
My interest was piqued in the top right scan, however. Obito himself says, "Izanagi is simply a practical application of Creation of All Things."
This inspired me to do some research on Izanami, Izanagi's counterpart. As Itachi once said, Izanami is the jutsu that allows one to relive certain events in the victim's life.
I find this interesting specifically due to the roles in Shintoism that Izanagi and Izanami represent.
In Shinto creationism mythology as related in the Kojiki, Izanagi and Izanami (Literally 'He who invites' and 'She who invites respectively) were siblings - later to be spouses -, and the eighth pair of brother and sister deities to exist following Earth and Heaven being created with the power of the five Kotoamatsukami Gods.
They were formed by the Elder Gods, Kunitokotachi and Amenominakanushi for the purpose of creating land below Heaven on Earth in the process that would come to be known as Kuniumi. In order to do so they were given the Ame-no-nuboku, a spear decorated in sacred jewels. This can be considered the instrument of Naruto's Yoton and Inton.
The deities departed to Ame-no-nuboku, the floating bridge that separated Heaven and the chaotic Earth, and stirred the sea below with the spear, creating a whirlpool; when the salt water dripped off the tip of the spear, 'Onogoroshima' (literally translating as self-forming island) was formed. The duo descended from the bridge of heaven and made their home on the new island; they built a gigantic palace that would serve as the revenue for their mating ceremony. Immediately following the ceremony they attempted sexual relation.
Following the birth of their first deformed child, 'Hiruko', Izanagi insisted they go through with the ceremony again after sending Hiruko away on a boat to drift indefinitely; he believed that something had gone wrong. They did, and again following the ceremony attempted sexual relations.
This time they gave birth to multiple islands successfully, and even more deities. Izanami, however, died while giving birth to the Fire God Kagu-tsuchi, and she departed to the Japanese underworld of Yomi to rot indefinitely. In rage, Izanagi executed Kagu-tsuchi with the ten finger sword Totsuka-no-tsurgi and sought after Izanami's soul in Yomi.
By the time he found her in the shadowy land, however, she revealed it was too late; she had eaten the fruit of Yomi and as such was bound to the land, unable to return to the land of the living. She begged Izanagi not to look at her deteriorating form.
Izanagi, refusing to heed her warnings, set ablaze the comb that held his hair and saw Izanami's new form through the darkness while she slept: a maggot ridden corpse.
Izanami, in her rage and hurt, chased Izanagi through Yomi yet was unable to catch him before he had managed to escape the underworld and block Yomotsuhirasaka, its entrance with a boulder. Izanami screamed from behind the boulder that if Izanagi left her to go back to Onogoroshima, every day she would destroy 1000 residents of the living, to which Izanagi replied indignantly he would create 1500 with Ame-no-nuboku.
I find this legend interesting mainly because of how Kishimoto paralleled it with Naruto. Ame-no-nuboku can be likened to the instrument which was used to channel both Yoton and Inton, and Izanagi and Izanami were both essentially the Sage in regards to their creations.
Hopefully you enjoyed. What parts of this legend stood out to you?
