The Sound Five wouldn't have gotten stronger if they lived into Shippuden

This basically means that the sound five had reached their maximum level of power. You may say that Orochimaru is wrong but he is one of the smartest characters in the manga and has a lot of knowledge, especially when it comes to his own pawns.

I do believe Kabuto mentioned it was a specific Kaguya clan illness. So, it probably was a byproduct of the dead bone pulse.

My theory was that he had leukemia due to having the ability to rapidly grow and repair his bones, including his bone marrow. If you don't know what leukemia is, it is the cancer related to bone marrow where white blood cells end up polluting the blood with useless antibodies or something along the lines.

No matter how strong you are, you can always get stronger.

I guess you are right. Maybe it was just Oro's way of saying that his other test subjects would never become more useful to him whereas Sasuke can still get closer to the Sage of Six Paths in order for Oro to eventually take his body and master all ninjutsu (theoretically).

well kimimaro is a beast and he was sick and fought on sheer will alone, he is the only one out of the sound 5 that could have improved...and oro was mainly saying that sasuke is the only one that can reach that level..suigetsu can get more powerful he is a seven swordsmen of the mist and is planning on collecting all the swords, if he does do u knw how skilled he would be, and he is from the hozuki clan, he has room for improvement...

juugo all he has to do is figure out a way to master the senjutsu chakra and he will become a sage always in sage mode becuas ehe can passively absorb senjutsu chakra, and probably gain dsm because the source of juugo's senjutsu chakra comes from ryuchi cave, its basically in blood to be a dsm user

kimimaro skill was already kakashi level, even while terminally ill he showed that he was great, and we could tell if he was well he would be even more a beast he fought off of sheer will alone and kabuto said he was already dead...kabuto and oro said that the leaf had no one that could beat kimimaro when he was sick, so at the time kimimaro was stronger than kakashi and guy while he was sick who were konoha's strongest ninja at the time

but the rest were basically at their limits and probably because the curse mark made them abandon their own skill and potential and made them rely on their curse seal for power

The Sound 4 WERE just 14. I refuse to believe they couldn't grow stronger from there. Also compared to Sasuke's growth, even the likes of Kimimaro and PTS Kabuto pale in comparison- it's for dramatic effect.

The important thing to note here is that Orochimaru still sees Sasuke as his.

This was just Kishi's way of hyping Sasuke to improve dramatically in the coming chapters as he is hyped to surpass Madara. Although the way he worded that scan is quite perplexing. I would like another translation of that same scan.
