(Prepare for some in depth proof on how Itachi can be beat! This'll be pretty long but if you can bear with me, I will greatly appreciate it! So just grab a snack, chill, sit back and relax and get ready to read how Itachi is able to lose. This thread is also to educate many who might be a bit in over their heads about Itachi. Anyway, enjoy!)
There are a select group of people who in my mind can beat Itachi (not including SO6P, Naruto and Sasuke) which includes Pain, Tobirama, Hashirama, Jiraiya, and another which I forget at the moment, though it'll come back to me. All these characters I could provide proof as to how they can beat Itachi but for now, I'm only going to discuss one. It's obvious: Pain.
Pain can repel all Jutsu thrown at him by Itachi including Susano'o, Yasaka Magatama and Amaterasu with the Deva Path (a force equivalent to six-tailed Naruto and above is required to resist Bansho Tenin and Shinra Tensei, which Itachi IMO is close to but not quite) and in the case that Itachi attacks Pain within the five second period, the Preta Path will be able to absorb all of his ninjutsu.
Genjutsu will be useless because of the Rinnegan they possess should be able to resist it (the only way Pain can be affected by Genjutsu is by affecting the other senses). In addition, Pain can use his summons from the Animal Path and projectiles from Asura to keep Itachi on his feet, especially with the Chimera. And in the case that Pain get's lucky with a Bansho Tenin, he could steal his soul with the Human Path.
The Naraka Path will mostly be used as a supporting role so he can revive any dead Path's. The Rinnegan's shared vision should also be able to keep Naraka aware of any attacks. In the case that Naraka is attacked while reviving one of the Path's or if he's attacked anyway, the Deva Path or Preta Path could dispel any attacks thrown at him. Protecting Naraka, Deva and Preta are key in winning against Itachi.
As a last resort, Pain could use Chibaku Tensei. It is unavoidable and not even a YM can stop it. The power of a Rasenshuriken, a TBB and YM is the only way to stop it, and Itachi doesn't possess a long range Jutsu of that power himself. He admitted that his strongest long range Jutsu is YM.
Let's not forget: Jiraiya, who is very close to Itachi in terms of his power, was forced to compete with Animal, Human and Preta with Sage Mode, so therefore you need to use your strength to that of the level of Sage Mode to deal with THREE of them.
And even in the case with Naruto: while Naruto was able to defeat the Pain's with Perfect Sage Mode, Deva's power wasn't returned until after four of the Path's had been destroyed. If Deva had his power from the start, Naruto would've most likely lost unless he was provoked into going into Version 2 (which eventually happened).
Plus, when Nagato was revived and using his 6POP all in the same body, it took the effort of KCM Naruto (who nearly died), Bee and Edo Itachi to beat him, so you'd think that if Pain was using the 6POP in separate bodies the effort to defeat him wouldn't be as much as fighting Nagato himself but would still be immensely difficult.
For these reasons and facts, Itachi is able to be beat, and cannot be considered the Solo King.
Thanks for reading! Leave a comment below on what you think! No excessively rude, insulting or inn appropriate comments allowed and no extreme fanboyism of any character is allowed. If you disagree with me, please give detailed reasoning, as it helps me understand the other side better.
