The Juubi really intrigues me by being the progenitor so I thought of a couple of things that could relate to this.
These are just my opinion so please don't take anything personal.
Ok so we know Juubi has a history of creating and destroying, and we also know Juubi has two forms, Humanoid and Monster.
This Progenitor seems like it had two forms when it was "active". Maybe when Juubi created things he was in the humanoid form. And after creating life incarnation from nothingness turned to the destroyer form, his monster side, never again being able to create. Using power only for destruction.
Though the humanoid's Juubi power of creation eventually led to Juubi's monster form rival, the SO6P.
The SO6P could then later become one with the Juubi being a Jinchuurki. Although now a human is in control again, It is only a temporary solution.
With Juubis destructive chakra power the SO6P could do two things.
First he could do what the humanoid progenitor did and create life incarnation from nothingness (chakra into 9 live beasts)
But also go on to create more human life, his two sons before dying.
The Juubi humaniod form tobi has summoned is like a giant creator zombie (because the monster chakra is split, just the creators empty shell) and madara wants to turn juubi into the monster illusion form.
