Let's get discuss and get this debate going.
The Paths are so ruthless.
Itachi has to watch out for all Six Bodies at once. He has to watch out for summons. He has to watch out for unexpected combos (like Universal Pull + Soul Absorption). I doubt Itachi could immediately have a comfortable time with Pain without prior intel.
- Itachi has to worry about summons and could barely deal with them with his limited chakra pool
Paths dgaf about Genjutsu.
Paths are dead; regular Genjutsu (including dojutsu) can not affect them like how they would a living person.
- If the Pain bodies were alive, Nagato just surges chakra into one of the bodies and the Genjutsu would be broken.
The Paths' fighting style is too smooth.
Paths always use formations that protect important paths (like Preta for example) so they can help out the Paths. The formations also allow Deva Path to rest for 5 seconds immediately after he performs an Almighty Push. Damaged paths get restored by Naraka.
Pain's pull out game is too strong.
If Itachi hides behind Susano'o and the summons have trouble penetrating it, Deva simply Universal Pulls Itachi out of his Susano'o and sets him up for an air combo.
- Nagato was able to pull out a chunk of rock from deep in the bottom of a Lake.
- Pain was able to pull out a Nail precisely from a plank
- etc. etc. You get the idea.
end result
(ex. of an air combo the Paths can do after Itachi is pulled out of his Susano'o)
