I think Kayuga might be the Animal Path. She as ignorant/arrogant enough to eat the fruit, despite being warned of dire consequences. She sported actual horns, an animal trait. Also, animals are known for carnal things such as eating. Well, the main fact about her was her eating the fruit. This could also be interpreted as sign of voraciousness. Also, animals paths are known for being lazy. Not saying that she was but she opted for the dangerous shortcut to peace instead of working hard in seeking a better solution. This mentality has cost humanity enormously.

But I would also agree that it's just a coincidence that Obito is calling Nagato the 3rd Sage paths,
Obito considers himself the 2nd SO6P and he's the 4th path so wouldn't make sense to go by those terms
