You, Me, he, she, we, they..

I suppose that to everyone new at this forum, new to forum life/culture altogether, notice tendencies, maybe not thinking about it, still, adapting to them nonetheless according to their own interests.

What I want to shed some light upon especially, would be the silent majority as relative to trolling, flaming and so on.
The silent majority: consisting of those whom would disagree with these acts.
This thread is also about special cases being those whom does the opposite and respond with equal intensity and nature, in either a discouraging or encouraging manner.

Looking a bit closer at it, say we have someone trolling or flaming; what would the usual response be?:

Example:
For troll threads like the one where someone made a fake thread claiming that the 617th chapter of Naruto was out before it actually was, I'm sure many noticed. It doesn't even have to be this one thread, but many others, choose your pick!
What happened was that there were those whom just went: "awww! You got me! =DD" and basically "**** this thread!" but also those whom, for some reason(something I hope to illuminate), deemed it fit to take the chance to abuse the thread, in what appeared to be(sometimes being downright encouraging) a seemingly 'I don't give a damn'-esque attitude from the onlookers..

Yeah, I know the expression 'Don't feed the trolls.' However that isn't very effective now is it?
That, because there are fools whom encourage such behaviour to begin with!

The mods can only do so much, and pumping in a lot more of them into the staff feels somewhat like what some nations do to their economy sometimes, it'll eventually collapse or have some undesired effect after a short time of false prosperity, unless they're able to live up to certain expectations. Steps are taken not focusing on progressing, but on not falling.

How I see it:

This is where the silent majority should make their entrance.
Alas! We're plagued by an attitude resulting in a typical reaction: S.I.L.E.N.C.E.

Too many turn their eyes elsewhere.
Too many are far too comfortable in their so-called 'freedom' here on the forum.
Too soon after this silly behaviour(trolling or flaming and the like) begins, do they, trolls/flamers, practically domineer the threads and where our attention is directed at in these said threads.

Most of us want a warm and welcoming community do we not? At least I do!

And I'm not saying with this, that those whom troll back, or somehow 'sink to their level' are 'right'. I believe another response/other ways of handling it all should be applied, as that which trolls and flamers usually are looking for, is this; an emotional response or a post hinting recognition of hence encouraging their conduct.

There's also the worrying trend of people, discounting encouraging through posts, actually making threads in these poor Interneters' honour, in which, thankfully, some make posts sharing their disagreement.
I urge you guys whom do this to play nicely though, as merely insulting isolates them and takes us further from a solution, even if only a temporary one considering the constant stream of new members.

What to do??
My solution would be to kindly point out their fallacies, as those range far and wide across their opinions and statements, despite the fact that they try masking it with what, witty comebacks? comedy??
It's in the eye of the observer and their so-called comedy/humour is morbid and relies all too heavily upon recognition from the audience, something called 'feeding the trolls.' Which is also important not to do, however that doesn't mean we should stop posting in these threads altogether, that's nothing but sheer submission and is most positively sometimes perceived as us agreeing with it. Absurd huh?

Make yourself heard, but cleverly so~

Haaa~ Opinions anyone? I'd like it if we could discuss this~ Keep to the rules and use common sense.

Lo and behold! That which to me is should be nothing but common sense, is crazy to another!xd

I'm just passionate about it dear~ ;D

But what do you think?
Should we just ignore and abandon threads hijacked by trolls or can we do something about it?

I believe that is a good approach as well, report it instead and leave it be, if you don't feel as if you're able to handle these trolls!
HOWEVER,
We're a community, and I can't help but to feel that I want everyone in it to know what we can and can't accept, in a nice way.
Ignoring it all is one way, but it also isolates us from each other..
And yeah, not everyone is expected to get along nor needs to interact at all, but when we do, why not take this step??
I mean, when I have the time, I will. I'm doing so now actually.

Nope.
Doing it nicely means trying to avoid a 'war,' instead trying to have them understand.
But sure, there are those whom care little for mutual understanding, those you ignore. You'll usually be able to tell from certain parameters.

The principle "don't feed the trolls" is a sound one and it's not without reason this phrase is so emphasised all over the internet. Trolls do not care if your feedback is positive or negative or if anyone is feeling like relieving himself of philosophical diarrhea on their thread. Your post is a number which helps in keeping such a thread up.

Nope.

If you are so interested in having a mutual understanding with trolls, please, use VMs and get over with it. Do not post in such threads as it is against forum rules.

Thank you.
