According to my research (outside of Naruto) about Japanese culture and Hebrew culture: The name Hashirama is actually a reference to a certain practice in Japan that actually does not originate in Japan but was actually a symbol of worshiping a certain deity from the West.

The name could be broken down as 'Hashira' in Japanese and Asherah in English, pretty much the name is most likely a reference to the babylonian goddess named Ishtar who is equated into the unholy trinity myths.

Now the symbolism comes to play as a wooden pillar that is said to house the god/goddess and is kept with sanctity

the Japanese may not even know it's purpose but I am sure spiritual/religious or pagan Japanese know its origin.

In the bible:
Deuteronomy 16:21 states that YHWH (rendered as "the LORD") hated Asherim whether rendered as poles: "Do not set up any [wooden] Asherah [pole][8] beside the altar you build to the LORD your God" or as living trees:

In other words God commanded his people to not set up the asherah beside HIS altar and also not to worship any other God at all but many times again people disobeyed. The bible mentions many other times about the asherah pole and it also has its relations with the christmas tree. And the bible also mentions how God doesn't like the christmas tree and its connotations to idolatry as well.

You can also count on the masculine representations of the god most likely being Odin or the horned Santa clause (lol)

Now on a serious level: this probably means Hashira-ma is the wood God and he alone bears the power of wood release. I theorize that the yang power of the Senju has the ability to allow wood release and it is connected to the body of the sage AND the God tree but Hashirama is the sole originator of the wood release outside of the Sage (that's all we know). So imo Hashirama's dna/power is probably stronger than ordinary senju dna/power (Just like Madara is stronger than some random fodder uchiha) but dna from a senju like Tobirama could be used to unlock the rinnegan but it might not work since it does not contain such a strong life force which SOME Senju (and Uzumaki) have: that essential physical energy and vitality present in exceptional Senju-Uzumak and so only dna from a Senju-Uzumaki like Hashirama, Tsuade, or Nagato would work!

Here's a certain icon used in the worship of Asherah

I also thought the Senju symbol could be two connected menorah going horizontal

Or a combination of both the cross in the middle and two menorah on each side.
