..in the bible, God forbid Adam and Eve to eat the fruit of knowledge.. when both disobeyed, they were banished from paradise and punished to endure pain, suffering and death including all of their descendants.

..this makes me wonder what makes it so sinful in eating the fruit of knowledge.. you may find some answers here:

Meanwhile in Ancient Greece, Socrates is best known for saying "the biggest displeasure is growing old and never knowing your full potential." He encouraged an open forum of communication so that everyone may learn. So that's the antithesis I suppose.

I dont think it is eating the fruit is sinful.

It's the fact that they ate it when God told them not to is sinful.

Maybe they weren't ready to eat it as they are yet to mature but they did so sometimes there are just certain things you mustn't do at certain times and eating the fruit was not yet their task to do.

We were never truly given any information than that so it's really hard the reason as to why the fruit is sinful to eat.

Were they suppose to protect it? or let the seed grow into another tree of life, etc.

So the only clue that we were given is Adam and Eve's purpose and their tasks.

They were given 2 jobs, name all the creatures before them and do not eat the fruit.

They failed to finish both.

I think "eating the fruit" was meant to be interpreted. Like how they were once immortal but God said "if you eat ye shall surely die.." What this means is that they lost that immortality they once had. Now humans face death and pain.

The fruit doesn't necessarily have to be a fruit and the tree of knowledge doesn't necessarily have to be a tree. Discernment is key.

Christianity is based on the foundation of incest i guess.
Because to populate the earth they would have to F*ck with each other and their children, grandchildren, grandgrandchildren and so on.

Wow, that first job though. I can barely name all 721 pokemon. Clearly God has no sense of scale when it comes to naming the billions of different species on the planet.

Also, eating fruit doesn't screw up the mission of protecting it, since Fruit bearing trees don't die when fruit is picked. Otherwise, there's something terribly wrong with the Vegitable of Life. (Which is probably Beetroot, now i think of it).

Why am i posting this crap?

Why would God purposely forbid them from eating something he knew they were going to eat with the foresight to know that they were going to do it? Why did he call it the fruit of knowledge? Does that imply that they lived in bliss as far as they lived in ignorance?

Thinking along these at first tbh. They only knew of each other and God. Clearly **** all hierarchy there, really. Then a talking, sentient snake starts telling them to do stuff. You'd definitely listen and maybe assume it was one of Gods associates or some bs idk.

The entire thing is retarded and God is a complete **** if he inflicted death on every descendent from their 1 innocent enough screw up. What would he do when the Earth eventually overpopulated with immortals?

The story is usually different in different religions but they weren't on Earth before according to Islam. They were dropped off at Earth when they went against what God said.

Thanks to all your inputs..

With all respect to Islam and Judaism the old testament is poorly written. It's either so patriarchal or incestuous. Just read the story of Lot who impregnated his 2 daughters. You can see some of the illustrations with Otto Dix paintings.

Even within the realms of the religious, Adam and Eve was never believed to have happened. Well, to the original Christians at least. (Catholics)

It was supposed to be a parable.

Catholics are not the original Christians. Orthodox Church is the one which remained more faithful to the Christianity of the origins.
Anyway yes, those text are not to be interpreted literally
