The senju and uzumaki were distant relatives which I think most of us out there are leaning toward being where the sages brother went... If the sage was able to grant his gifts and abilities I would think his brother could too... Someone had to seal the bijou which would make sense if the brothers kids became the Uzumakis.

But what if he also had special eyes... I'm thinking this is where the Byakugan!!! came from as well, giving NaruHina a whole 'nother twist

it's either a, the second son's descendants were the uzumaki that married the senjus thus creating distant blood relatives

or the uzumakis existed prior to the sage, and through lots and lots of generations of breeding, the bloodline became one
