Well Sasuke asked Hashirama what the village and what shinobi are.....so Hashirama will probably say that a village is home and shinobi are those who are willing to sacrifice everything for their friends and family: their home!

Honestly I'd imagine Tobirama is a monster....plus think of just who he may have as Edo Contracts!? I mean shinobi like Kakuzu, Ginkaku, and Kinkaku are from his time.....imagine how many other monsters are there!
