This is a bit of a wild one to begin.

We all know that Kaguya was less than diplomatic in her handling of affairs. The Sage made it pretty apparent that it was her way or the highway:

Rather self-explanatory.

But there's something odd about The Sage:

To quote: " The sage answers you back: "There is a very big change - it is not what happens in your life, which is precisely the same as before - the big change is not in what happens in life outwardly... but in your OWN PERSONAL ATTITUDE TO LIFE, which truly decides whether you are comfortable with yourself and comfortable with others, whatever happens in life."

You confess you are still puzzled. The sage continues:

- "Even previously having done what you felt you had to do, it was your life's experience - and everyone else's too – that after trying your best as the “doer” you knew that you had no more control over the result of your actions. Now, with your new understanding, there is really no change in what happens. You know that… But there is from now on, A BIG CHANGE IN WHAT HAPPENS TO YOU. Previously, accepting that it was your doing, success meant pride and arrogance, failure meant guilt, shame, resentment. Now, with the understanding that your doing was not really your doing but only a happening, success means only pleasure but not pride and arrogance; failure may mean a sense of regret but not frustration, guilt or shame - was never your doing, but a happening over which you truly had no control. THIS IS THE BIG DIFFERENCE: INSTEAD OF FIGHTING WITH THE FLOW OF LIFE, NOW YOU GO WITH THE FLOW WITHOUT ANY STRESS." "

The very appearance of The Sage speaks against the virtues of being a Sage in Buddhism.

But it does coincide with:

To quote:

" [Some worldlings and followers of outer paths] say, "The inconceivable grandeur and solemnity of the Pure Land is a fable or a metaphor for the mind, it is not a real place." If one holds this kind of heretical concept or ridiculous view, then one loses the benefit of reibrth in the Pure Land. You must know the harm there is in this (Yinguang 1991, 4:1939)."

That was a letter in response to a follower discussing the philosophy held by those who contend that the "Outer Path" in Buddhism is an acceptable means.

So what is the Outer Path?

This guy sums it up pretty well, so I will quote him, rudely, without permission:

" In this (shounen) manga, nirvana has been simplified as 'peace', and the cycle of suffering has been simplified as 'hate'. Of the Rikudo's, Nagato is a prime example of someone who was unable to accept the 'Inner Path' of peace, and instead turned to the 'Outer Path' to achieve his goals of escape suffering and hate, bringing the dead back through his power over the Hell Realm, and even summoning evil creatures such as the Heretical Demon Statue (which once was the ultimate all-powerful creature of the Outer Path, the Jyuubi), with the goal of terrifying the world into peace. Tobi/Madara, as well, are creatures of the Outer Path, wanting to use the Jyuubi and the Infinite Tsukyumoni to bring an end to conflict and suffering in the world. But these types of power and these sorts of peace are only illusory lies, and must fade in time; only by transcending the Six Realms through the Inner Path of orthodox Buddhism (ie, peace) can suffering truly be done away with for good. "

Keep in mind that this was published in August of 2012 - Kaguya wasn't around, then - and The Sage wasn't appearing to bring people back to life and giving them yet more power.

The Sage's idea that Ninshuu could be used by people to bring about peace was, itself, a walking of the outer path. He sought the power of the God Tree just as Kaguya did, just as Obito did, and just as Madra is.

This goes along with one of my previous threads:

This explains that Kaguya was running against the key concepts of Taoism - which are strongly expressed by the Hyuuga Clan (if all the talk of trigrams and destiny wasn't a tip-off) - the only other known holders of the Byakugan.

Which leads us to this interesting Taoist tale: The Journey To the West... which describes, in Taoist Alchemy, how to create the Elixir of Life (or the Golden Elixir - whatever you call it - shit that makes you immortal).

One will notice, here:

While many have argued that the symbols imposed upon Naruto and Sasuke represent the Sun and Moon... they, in fact, do not. They represent different phases of the moon:

Hagoromo is building the "Furnace" in which to forge the Elixir of Life.

But why?

Sir Derp Obito has already explained why.

Kaguya, for her abuses of power, was confronted by the original guardians of the God Tree and a contingent of the Ototsuki.

The Uzumaki joined forces with the Ototsuki dispatched from "far away" to combat Kaguya - ultimately sealing her within the Uchiha Tablet (or something along those lines) and condemning her to be the Reaper Death Seal.

The Ototsuki likely became stranded as a result of the conflict, their descendants adopting the title: Hyuuga. It was the Hyuuga (Ototuski) and Uzumaki who co-developed the Eight Trigrams Seal. The only time we have seen it used required the evoking of the Reaper Death Seal (and it might very well be a requirement), and the RDS leaves an eight-trigram seal upon the user following its completion:

The Sage sought to use Ninshuu to bring about peace, as his mother had. In the end, he failed, and has seen his mother used to bind the Tailed Beasts in pursuit of power.

He will free her - or attempt to do so - by using his power to appear to individuals throughout history and engineer the naturally combative hearts of men to set the conditions for the forging of the Elixir of Life with the blooming of the God Tree's flower.

The plan is to have Sasuke seek the power of the fruit (we were not shown what the Sage said to him - we merely assume it was the same as what he said to Naruto - or that he interpreted it the same way as Naruto). Naruto will evoke the Reaper Death Seal to prevent Sasuke from destroying the world:

This will complete the forging process - Naruto and Sasuke being drawn into the Dead Demon - and the Demon shall come to life once more, freed from her condemnation.

Well, that experiment returned the expected result.

I post a theory that doesn't even use Hinata's name, and your comment was still as useless as ever.

But I had to test the hypothesis.

Hagoromo is evil. And when did you become a theorist? Not your style by the way. But nice read.

Last book you published here on NB, i gave you the benefit of the doubt and read your theory on sasuke or what ever only for me to find out that it was all leading to how NH is destiny and all that crap.

Lol

Thanks... I've pretty much always been a theorist. Though some of these may not be so much a theory as much as a sort of analysis:
