my question is: do you have to have ashura or indra's chakra in order for sage mode NOT to deform you physically?

because every sage mode has deformed the user.

jiraiya got warts all over an had to have to toads attached to his neck,

kabuto got scales all over his body an had a big ass snake coming out his belly,

obito got scales and i guess i would call them horns all over his body

but hashi just got colorful marks on his body

maddy just got a crown with a horn on it

naruto in basic SM just got eye shadow

and sasuke just got a stronger eye ( idk wtf that was about but ok) did anybody else catch this....

No Naruto was just more efficient at taking in Nature energy. He took in the right amount and controlled it better with his own chakra...too much and you start to get features like a toad. You could say that he is a better SM user than the other people you mentioned.

For example Minato was pretty good at taking in the right amount too. He just couldn't do it for long and it took him a while to actually collect Nature energy. (He doesn't have the warts like Jiraiya)

i never really saw those as deformations, just things that physically indicated that sage mode was activated.

No,it just means you aren't pure or something,you need to be equal with nature.
Also kabuto got scales because orochimaru.
Obito got scales because of zetsu

I think that they have like the "Ultimate sage mode" so maybe that causes no side effects

The deformations are caused by not beeing able to control the nature energy or picking up the right amount.
Now naruto has perfected it he doesn't have any deformations anymore.

yeah he got sage chakra from the SO6P and i believe only sages can use that dont quote me tho cus im not sure
