After the Pain invasion, I accomplished one of those dreams, but to fulfill the other one, I must do one more thing. Before I can ever think about becoming the Hokage like my father, I must save Sasuke from the path he has chosen, a path filled with hatred and betrayal.'
Sunlight filled the small apartment as Naruto tossed and turned in his bed. His room was like it always was, clothes just casually thrown on the floor, spoiled food on the table from a few nights before, and his fridge, containing only a carton of milk.
The peaceful silence was broken by hard banging on the door, it only lasted for a few seconds but it was enough to stir Naruto awake as he groggily got out of his bed and towards the door.
'There's only one person who would be banging on my door so early,' Naruto thought as he unlocked the door and opened it.
As the door opened, it revealed a pink haired kunoichi, her facial and body expression were not a very happy ones and Naruto knew that he was in trouble.
"Naruto," Sakura quietly but angrily said as she tried to suppress her anger, "we have to meet up with Kakashi in five minutes! Hurry up and get dressed."
"Nice to see you too Sakura," a half awake Naruto replied as he let her inside his apartment.
As Naruto started to get dressed, Sakura looked in disgust at Naruto's jungle of a apartment. "Naruto, I helped you clean this place up less than a week ago. Remember how happy you were to see the floor?"
"Yeah, those were some good days," Naruto said as he remembered how nice and clean it was. "But I've been really busy helping around rebuilding the village, I can only make so many shadow clones before I get tired," Naruto replied as he put on his yellow and black jacket with his orange pants.
Sakura let out a deep breath as she headed for the door, "Come on let's go." As Naruto went to follow her, he gave a quick glance to the picture of him and the rest of Team Seven. The annoyed look on Sasuke's face always brought a small smile to his face, but he had to hurry if he was gonna make it in time. He quickly made a break for the door and stayed by Sakura's side as they made their way to the third training ground.
As they walked with the sun beating down on them, it seemed like every second Naruto was being thanked for saving the village. Sakura looked on the sideline as Naruto's face lit up with every thank you.
'You deserve this Naruto, you saved the village and I know you're loving every second of this,' Sakura thought as she softly smiled.
All the thank you's Naruto received set them back a bit, by the time they reached the meet up spot, they were already ten minutes late. As the training ground came into vision, they could vaguely see Kakashi standing there with his usual expression, reading Make Out Paradise.
Not wanting to become more late than they already were, they quickly ran towards him in hopes of not getting into too much trouble. Kakashi heard the footsteps coming towards him and knew exactly who it was, he put his book away and brought his head up looking directly at Naruto and Sakura.
"So, what's the excuse this time?" Kakashi said in a defeated tone, he was all too familiar with Naruto's tardiness. Trees surrounded them as a slight breeze helped cool down in the hot day.
Naruto laughed nervously as he rubbed the back of his head, "Sorry Kakashi-sensei, I overslept again."
Kakashi didn't find this too funny as he shook his head, "I've lost count as to how many times you've overslept, besides that though I have a surprise for you."
Naruto's head shot straight up at the sound of a surprise, "Really? What is it, is it a free meal at Ichiraku's Ramen?"
Kakashi laughed at Naruto's naivety, "Nope it's something even better," he held out his hand and in it was a paper folder.
Naruto looked at the paper folder with an intrigued look on his face. He grabbed the folder that was in Kakashi's outstretched hand, tore it open, and quickly scanned it, making sure not to miss a single thing.
The happy smile on his changed as he read it, it morphed into a more confused look. He looked up and saw Sakura eagerly waiting to hear what the mission was while Kakashi casually looked on.
"It's an S rank mission," Naruto informed them as he tried to feign happiness.
The reaction he got wasn't one that he expected, as Sakura and Kakashi both had a look of surprise on their faces. "That's great Naruto," Sakura congratulated after getting over the initial surprise.
Kakashi had a strange feeling about it, but suppressed enough to give Naruto a smile under his concealed face. "Looks like all that begging finally worked out. What's the mission?"
Naruto tried to think of a way to make it sound better than it sounded but decided not to sugar coat it and put it out there, "Due to the recent events in Konoha," Naruto explained as he read it word for word, "we have seen some suspicious activity coming from Kumogakure. There's a possibility that they'll attack Konoha while we're in a weakened state. Your mission is to travel to the outskirts of Kumogakure and observe their activities from afar without having your cover blown. A disguise is highly recommended and you are to leave by the break of dawn tomorrow."
The thought of how risky this mission seemed like it was almost too much to handle. Kakashi seemed the most surprised, even he in all his time as a ninja hadn't been given a mission this risky.
Sakura had the same feeling as Kakashi, a mission so risky that could end so badly was a tough thing to swallow. "So...are you going to accept the mission?"
Naruto saw the expressions on their faces, to reassure them he quickly put on a big smile and started to laugh, "Come on Sakura, I have to take this mission. This is the sort of mission I've waited my whole life for, it might sound risky but to turn it down would go against everything I stand for."
Just like Naruto planned, his optimism worked and it brought up their spirits. "Well make sure to have the proper supplies before you leave, especially a good disguise, something that will cover your face," Kakashi said.
"And I'll make sure to give you a medical kit before you leave, make sure you're fully prepared," Sakura added.
Naruto put the thought of the mission in the back of his mind as he started to stretch out his limbs, "Alright Kakashi-sensei, if I only have one more training session with you before I leave, let's make it good."
While Naruto was gearing up for his mission tomorrow, an Uchiha was reflecting on the information that he had just learned. Beside him was Karin, Suigetsu, Jugo, Tobi, Zetsu, and Kisame.
The group was in a cold cave, the only light coming into it was from the entrance as rocks surrounded them. "Sasuke," the masked man said as he leaned back against the damp cave wall, "are you ready for your mission?"
Sasuke, who had had his eyes closed furiously opened them with his sharingan already activated, "My mission...my mission is to destroy Konoha and kill the elders that sacrificed Itachi's life. Completing your simple task is just a small obstacle in the way." Sasuke replied as hate dripped off his words.
Tobi silently nodded, 'It seems like everything's going according to plan,' he thought as he could feel the hatred emanating off of Sasuke's eyes.
"Good Sasuke, you and Taka shall go to Kumogakure," Tobi said as he paused for dramatic effect, "and capture the eight tails."

The Sages' Mission
