Naruto took deep breaths as he raced to the top of the mountain, the possibilities of what could be behind the mountain flooded Naruto's thoughts. He had made sure not to climb a mountain too close to the village, the embarrassment of having his cover blown on the first day would be too much.
As Naruto neared the top, he started to circle it in hopes of getting a better view in less time and he was proved right. As he stood on the steep mountain, he looked around him in awe as he took in the sight of everything.
In front of him, he saw a small clearing in between a group of towering mountains. Another thing Naruto noticed were the clouds that were just above him, a few feet higher and he would be able to touch one.
From the altitude, he could hardly make anything out, he tried squinting but still no difference. He turned to his handy dandy binoculars that he had recently used and put them to use as he looked through them, pointing them right at the clearing.
The first thing he saw using the binoculars was a sparkling lake, 'Oh wow, I'd kill to be in that lake right now.' Naruto could have looked at that lake all day, but something caught his eye as he looked in awe at his new focus point.
A dark skinned man with blond hair stood on the dirt ground, he wore Kumogakure's standard one strap over one shoulder flak jacket, a long red rope belt tied around his waist, hand and shin guards, shinobi sandals, and a white scarf around his neck.
Naruto looked at him with great interest as he waited to see if he would do anything. The man, as if on cue took unsheathed the seven swords he had on his back and placed them all somewhere on his body where he could use them.
This feat alone, the ability to hold seven swords impressed Naruto, but he didn't want to just see the man hold it, he wanted him to use them and that's where the straw dummy came into play.
The man stood a few feet from the dummy, swords at the ready. In an instant he swung the seven swords, using them all as he cut the dummy into seven small pieces.
Naruto giggled in excitement as saw how cool it looked to see the seven swords in action. 'Wow that was awesome, maybe before I leave I'll go talk to him without blowing cover,' Naruto thought as he began to make his way down.
The sun was already starting to go down and Naruto wanted to make sure to find a good place to sleep before the darkness overtook the sky. Once Naruto had reached the ground, he quickly looked for a place in the trees where he could sleep on and after a bit of searching he found one.
Naruto let out a big yawn as he laid down looking into the now dark sky. A lot of thoughts ran through his mind as he recalled some of the recent events that happened in his life.
Thoughts of battling Pain started to fill his mind at first, then they moved to Konan and her paper flowers. Remembering how he saved the village brought a small smile to his face, but it instantly went away when he thought of Sasuke.
'Sasuke, why haven't you come back to Konoha yet? You got what you wanted, Itachi's dead, yet you're still out there,' Naruto thought as he started to drift away into sleep, 'but I'll bring you back.'
The next morning
Naruto laid on the comfortable branch, it had held him up all night and had proved the test of sturdiness. The birds were up and chirping up a storm, the sun's rays peaked through the leaves and branches and were hitting Naruto's face.
The sudden heat on Naruto's face made him slowly waken from his sleep. His sapphire blue eyes looked around, reminding him that he wasn't in Konoha anymore. But what they did see was the natural beauty of nature, birds feeding their young, squirrels gathering nuts, and water dripping of a leaf and hitting the ground.
Naruto smiled as he sat up, stretching his worn out limbs, rubbing his eyes in the process. After sitting silently for a few minutes, he pushed himself up and off of the tree, his feet making a *thud* sound as they hit the ground.
His stomach growled, reminding Naruto of his hunger. But Naruto had another plan in mind as he covered half of his face just like Kakashi, strapped the medical kit Sakura gave him to his thigh, pushed the straw hat down on his head and raced toward the rock he scaled yesterday.
'I hope that guy I saw yesterday is training right now. I had to leave yesterday because it was getting dark but now I have all the time in the world,' these thoughts ran through Naruto's head as he ran up the rock mountain.
As Naruto reached the top like last time, he started to circle the rock and once he had a good view of the area he saw the day before, he realized something. He could tell that there were more people this time, four more actually.
The thought of others just like the man he had seen yesterday was exciting Naruto as he quickly grabbed his binoculars and looked to see who was down there.
"No way..." the shock of what he had seen caused him to drop the binoculars as he stood there wide eyed. Along with the man he had seen four different people, each wearing the same thing.
The well known black robes with red clouds on them was all too familiar for Naruto, but that's not what shocked him the most. What did was the person wearing one of those Akatsuki robes, someone Naruto knew personally.
Disregarding his orders he started to sprint towards where they were as fast as he could, but not without screaming something along the way.
"Sasuke!"
