on the image of him shown in issue 510, page 11 and it would seem he has a combination sharingan/rinnengan eye.

Which, would actually make sense why they've been showing the 10-tails with a combination eye. I know when the other characters think about him, he only has the rinnengan, but in a flash back thinking about a character they only know from legend, it's not necessarily that accurate. Besides, you can make the sharingan appear and go away, so perhaps he did mostly just walk around with the rinnengan.

there r different theories about doujutsu. some say different sorts of eyes r just variations, rather developments, of each other. what's for sure is that so6p had certainly both sharingan and rinnegan.
but as u may have already noticed madara's version of this combination is different. he has sharingan in one eye and rinnegan in the other

yup. It's just a pale imatation, but about the only way he could combine the two. This is just the first image I've seen that actually seems to show the so6p with eyes other than the standard rinnengan-- if you don't consider the 10-tails eye when it had it, which I would imagine is not his eye but simply the so6p mind-controlling him. Since every time you control a creature with the sharingan it does that, I wouldn't consider that unfounded.
